Catback exhaust

Hello,

I recently purchased a 2009 Mazda RX-8 R3. There is someone selling a catback My question is this. The car the exhaust was on is a 2005. Willl it fit on mine? I have been trying to research but have been reading something about a difference in the end or tips? Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

Mike

No a series I exhaust will not fit. I believe it could be modified to fit (not sure about this). You will be better off finding one built for the series II.

Actually, a S1 exhaust will fit the S2, the issue though is that the tips of the exhaust will sit higher than a comperable S2 exhaust due to the exhaust shroud configuration on the S1. Which in turn means that the exhaust will sit at a lower angle than it was intended (all this means is that you could run into clearance issues)

To make an S1 exhaust work with an S2 all you need is a set of extended rubber exhaust hangers. Take note though, some exhausts will net you a run in with clearance issues if you are lowered (i.e. turboxs's later models).

An exhaust hanger like the one linked here would help fitment: Universal 12mm 4 Holes Exhaust Muffler Poly Urethane Hanger JDM | eBay
