Hey. My rebuild day is coming closer and I was wondering do you guys have any tips before putting stuff back together.

Here is the thing:

I have coated wd-40 on my parts so they dont rust while I am away from the garage for these few weeks. Do I have to clean this oil off the parts before assembly or just put them on as they are?

If I have to clean the oil off, will a parts cleaner solution work fine or brakeclean and rag dry/swipe the hell out of them?

It's called WD40 because the lab trying to develop a product to disperse water.
At the 40th attempt they were successful. The marketing guys love short catchy names,
so WD40. It became a household word. Something like Coke. And yes the story about
some guys having problems getting a machine going again, someone spilled his Coke in the gear box
and the machine started again..
It really is not useful for long time rust protection, you should be OK short term.
The best place to buy long term protection is in a boat supply store.

For cleaning small part I use brake cleaner. I buy it by the case off Amazon.

You'll be fine. But do use assembly lube when you do put it together.

 

Nothing in WD40 that will cause a problem. You need to coat everything in oil and assembly lube when you assemble it anyway
