Can I Fix a Series 1 Engine Block to a Series 2

Hi Rotary heads,

I have a 2009 Series 2 RX8. And recently my engine was blown. I have a 6 ports Series 1 Automatic Engine with good compression. Can I Swap the Engine block with the blown Series2 Engine.

Thanks

No. The oil injection setup is completely different. You can search for other threads on this for more details.

Like going from an LS to a small block. They look similar, have a lot of parts that are similar, and some can even be bolted on one or the other. Not at all the same though. E-shaft, rotors... center iron? water pump maybe? Intake manifold maybe? I'm just running through my head at parts that might be the same because they don't fall under the big obvious changes category here. Housings are different (3rd oil injector). Irons are different (oil filter housing moved from top rear to bottom front). Oil system runs at something like 120 psi vs 80 in the S1... ECUs are different. Harnesses are different. On and on. You CAN make it work, but it'll take a lot of time and money, and in the end you get an objectively lesser engine for your trouble.
