Buying a used RX8

I am looking to get by first RX8. I am looking at one of the cleaner options around me. Everything seems fine with it. It is a 04 automatic with 59k miles. The owner says that it needs a new intake tuning valve or it just needs to be driven for a while. After looking up that part, I get an intake manifold ssv secondary shutter valve. If anyone knows if these two are the same please let me know. I’m also wondering if it is worth it to get the car with a potential issue. Also is it easy to fix myself or would I need a professional. Any advice on anything involving this would be helpful, thank you in advance. Also I was wondering what the max amount of miles the car can have without worrying too much. Thank you again

Pass unless you are getting it really cheap. Manuals are worth far more. Also, ensure a compression test is done before purchase. The engine alone is worth more than the whole car. The value is in the engine, make sure it's still in decent shape. The SSV problem may be expensive to fix in parts and labor if it indeed need to be changed. 56k miles is good but doesn't guarantee engine is any good.
