Is this burnt cat..?
Hello fellow 8 drivers,
could you help me and tell me if this is burnt cat..? The car has CEL and does not rev more than 5k.
would gutting it help?

Remove the cat and physically inspect it, this part might just be a scratch from the road. The cat has a metal shroud thing.
get the code read, if it is P0420 then your cat is dead and after you remove it if the problem persists you might have a OMP problem.
if there’s no code then your OMP is malfunctioning, if it is P1688 or similar, your OMP is malfunctioning.
OMP code is manufacture specific so not all code reader can read it.

i took the cat out, it was completely cleaned and gutted.. haha
i got the obd2 code, it was p1688..
What now..?

Can I do anything before I get a mechanic to replace the omp?

This would explain why you cant rev above 5k. The car is currently in limp mode. Check out this thread for solutions. OMP pumps rarely fail mechanically. Likely the switch or wiring is the issue. Good luck.
