So I recently purchased a well looked after 2005 rx8, but the previous owner decided to throw in an aftermarket head unit (alpine iva-w505) with the metra kit. The odd thing about the radio is everything about the head unit is working, but you can only hear sound if the volume is maxed out. At max volume the sound coming through the speakers is hardly above a whisper.

I took the head unit out to check for loose connections or broken wire but couldn't see any. Upon re-instillation of the the headunit, I must have knocked something loose on the metra kit because now my clock screen is off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

I got the climate/clock screen functioning again but still looking for help with the audio. I'm going to check the voltage to the doors to see if the HU internal amp is blown

 

First off , the volume problem would occur if the output OHMs of the aftermarket head unit and the OHMs rating of the original speakers were not matched. Also the amp could be the problem.
