Aloha, please help guys
Hey community I could really use some help .Bought an 05 mazMa RX-8 for 1,000. It's got some issues, I believe it might have the wrong ecu because it is a automatic transmission but the previous owner changed the ecu and the car won't shift out of first. Also the abs pump is always on along with abs light, e brake light, and I believe the engine light and power steering light. The car needs a lot of love but the engine body and interior are actually very clean .just has some electrical problems. So here's the numbers on the ecu N3K8 18 881 the dealership said my Vin number shows that it should be N3ZC 18 881R can anyone tell me if the N3K8 is for AT or MT or any ideas on how to get the car to shift. The speedometer also doesn't work so I was thinking maybe that's why it won't shift. I want to get the transmission working properly before fixufi it up .

Two listings I looked up say that N3K8 is for an AT.
Have you checked the transmission itself for any problems? Do paddle shifters work?

RX8 AT won't shift out of 1st gear
No I have not checked the AT itself at all, but the dealership seems to think it's the TCM and want to charge me 600.00 for a new one . I found the right one on eBay for 70.00 but don't I still have to take it to the dealership to link the ecu to the TCM.
Here is the exact symptoms car starts fine when I put car into drive it revs all the way to 9000 RPM and does not go into 2nd gear. I can shift into 2nd gear if I use the Tiptronic shifters I have not tried the paddle shift on my steering wheel but I would guess that it would have the same result as the Tiptronic shifter. So the Tiptronic shifter will let me use 1st and 2nd gear but not 3rd or 4th and when I'm in Drive it only stays in first gear. How do I find out F it's the TCM or the solenoids.
