? about starting techniques

I have only owned my 04 RX8 MT for about 3 weeks and have not had any hard starts either cold or hot with it.

I have seen MANY threads on staring problems with the RX8, but have not found the answer to the question of:

If you try to start your car, either cold or hot, and it does not start after the first 10 sec crank attempt, should you on your next crank attempt press the gas pedal to the floor?

Or, should you attempt to crank it again without touching the gas pedal?

That's because if it doesn't start after 10 seconds of cranking, you need to fix the problem causing it to not start.

Seriously. If everything is healthy, the car should start in under 1 second. Something gets a bit weak/old/worn, and under 2 seconds is still reasonable. 10 seconds and no start means something is wrong, and it's probably flooded. In which case you will need to deflood to get it started again.

RIWWP,

Thanks for the quick response. I was just curious as these cars are unique in many ways as you are aware.

Like I said I have not had any hard starts, either cold or hot, and mine so far has always started in around 1 second.
