What years of rx8 have the 8 year/100k mile engine warranty?

 

My '09 has a 7yr/100,000 mile warranty, so I'm gonna guess and say 04-08 has the longer one.

It's for 2004-2008, engine core only. Thre were also bumper-to-bumper and drivetrain warranties whose length varied with model year. B-B was 4 years throught 2006, then dropped to 3 years.

Actually the 8/100k covers ALL model years (this is from mymazda.com):

RX-8 Rotary Engine Core Limited Warranty Extension
Mazda Motor Corporation is extending the warranty coverage on Rotary Engine Core Components on all RX-8 vehicles produced after the 2004 model year. The warranty coverage for the Rotary Engine Core Components is extended to 8 years (96 months) from the original warranty start date, with a 100,000 mileage limitation. The following is a list of components covered by this warranty:

Rotary Engine Core
Rotary Housing and Internal Parts
Internal Seals and Gaskets

Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty
Mazda warrants that new Mazda cars and trucks will be free of defects with normal use and prescribed maintenance for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Ordinary maintenance items or adjustments, parts subject to normal wear and replacement and certain other items are excluded. This transferable "limited warranty" is included on all new Mazda vehicles sold and serviced in the United States.

 

The strict usage of the wording is exactly correct, as befitting a legal statement.

The engine core warranty for 2004 through 2008 was EXTENDED (as in, the original warranty was not at that point, and was extended to that point), where as the 2009 came with the longer warranty period already, so there was no need to extend it, it was already there.

All RX-8s, 2004-2011, have the 8yr 100,000mile engine core warranty.

 

What about 2004 that had an engine replaced in 2006 - would the warranty be from original purchase date or when I had engine replaced?

 

From original date of sale of the car. So a 2004 is out.
