2004 Mazda RX8 Automatic-No Start

Hi I am new to this site and am trying to find some help in fixing my rx8. The car is in a no start condition. I have tried a few things as well as new parts and haven't had any success based on reading threads here and advice from mazda techs. I have replaced spark plugs, wires, coil packs, crankshaft sensor, cleaned maf, hollowed cat, and replaced battery. Engine cranks and turns over with no sounds of engine failure. There are no aftermarket modifications on the car other than another set of wheels. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for checking out my thread Cbish95. I had thought the same as well in one of my attempts to fix this issue and tried the WOT technique to de-flood*. As a result I had gotten a more normal sounding crank out of it but still a no-start.

Hmmmm, I'm a bit like Cbish, not very experienced with the 8's. But, if you're saying it cranks fine but just doesn't want to start, I can think of a few things that could MAYBE cause that (don't take my suggestions as concrete facts, just food for thought)

maybe there's something wrong with your intake system, not enough fuel getting into combustion chamber to cause a big enough combustion to get it running(?)

maybe your starter motor is too weak to give the engine enough momentum to run on it's own but just strong enough to keep cranking it

I'm not sure if this is bad for an rx8 or not so don't do it until someone here says it's okay, but try the ol' hill technique. push it down a hill (im sure you know how to do the rest. everyone who's owned a beater has had to do this at some point haha) if it starts up, clearly it's not a starter motor issue. just make sure you have a hand on the e-brake just in case!

hope someone with more experience comes along and helps out!

Thank you for your suggestions detectiveorange. I have thought about the fuel pressure being an issue. I did not do a fuel pressure check with a gauge because I didn't find a service port on fuel system to tap the gauge into. I know where what I believe are the pressure and return lines with quick disconnects on the left rear engine compartment although I am not sure of the proper procedure and what the desired results would be in my situation. The starter is 100 percent being that it was recently replaced. I also have a battery tender/charger/starter at my disposal which I can make quicker cranks out with that but it just hasn't done the trick.

I'm surprised no one has responded yet. It sounds like a fuel problem man, but I have no idea about how often or how normal it is for fuel lines to fail in RX-8's. I'm almost positive it's a fuel problem though if you're saying that you recently changed the starter, cleaned your MAF, changed ur ignition parts, etc. Did this just randomly start happening one day, or did it gradually get harder and harder to start until now it just doesnt start?

I admit to passing the thread over when it was first posted. It gets tiring answering the same questions over and over again.

There are the same basic principles. You need air, fuel, spark, and compression to get the engine started.

You can't block the airflow without severe measures.

You replaced the ignition but have you verified spark? They are not the same thing.

Have you verified fuel? Too much of it is flooding, but the ECU doesn't inject "too much" unless something else fails and the proper fuel amount builds up past ignitable levels.

Have you verified compression? You need acceptable engine compression from engine sealing as well as cranking speed. Cranking speed requires battery health and starter health.
