192hp and 230hp engine differences help

Hi, how do you tell the two version aparts? Is there something visible easily to look for? Also does the 5speed manual and 6 speed fit both engines? Planning an engine swap so need to know the differences, thanks in advance!

The lower intake manifold will have 4 runners on a 192, 6 runners on a 230. Both types of transmissions and engines are interchangeable.

Both the 192 and 230 were sold with manual transmissions, however the 192 was not sold with a manual here in the States, only a four speed automatic. (It was sold with a 5 speed in Europe and Asia). If you’re buying on eBay, it’s most likely a JDM unit with a five speed manual.

The mounting holes for the manual and auto are diffierent, so you want to make sure you get the right engine for your project!

The redline should be the easiest giveaway. 9000 rpm vs 7200.

6-port AT in North America has a lower redline as well, though. Only 6-port 6-speed has the 9k redline out of all the versions.

Seems it's from the Castle TV show.
