I think it'd be horrible to steal anyone's thunder and blurt out numbers...or post them before the owners got a chance to. I know i'd be a little upset if ppl called and 'got the scoop' before I published them.

:D

What if you got the scoop and didn't post it? You'd be on the inside! Then you could taunt all us people on the outside with your unspeakable knowledge. :D

Ok. Philodox was done with the dyno when I arrived (I know some numbers, but I'll let him tell it) and they were just strapping the Maniac down. Watched the Manic get about 4 runs in order to dial up and down the fuel maps in various places. Both setups look great.

The only dissapointment was that I was the only other 8 there...lame...I thought there would be several folks that wanted to see this.

They should be on later to post the official numbers. Hopefully Maniac gets his fuel maps ironed out for a couple of good runs.

I understand people that live 60++++ miles away not showing up but there are quite a few RX8club members in the immediate area (I took a few hours off of work and drove about 45 miles to get there) I almost didn't find the place because I was looking for a lot full of 8s.

Edit: I arrived there a little after 12:00 and left there around 2:45. Maniac probably needed 2 or 3 more runs to get the maps set. Then 1 or 2 runs for the record. I know they were planning on going to Wendys for some lunch once they finished up. There will be pics and Maniac might even have a vid.

Well, the dyno session went well, though it was a bit more expensive for me than I planned - I ended up being strapped down for three hours. Money well spent, though.

We had one fairly significant glitch and that is with the tach signal on the DynoJet. For some reason, it was unable to read our RPM ater 5500 RPM or so. Because of that, we couldn't get any torque plots because the machine would stop reading torque after it lost the ignition signal. It did, however, continue to record HP, but it needed to be plotted against wheel speed instead of RPM as most of us are acostomed.
This glitch was on both of our vehicles, so it isn't a failed component or the result of any particular combination of aftermarket parts since our cars are different in that respect.

First, Jon was hooked up and ran several base runs that were all within a hair of each other, so I think it is fair to say his graph is representative of the power he is producing. His results can be found in the "Greddy Turbo Installed" thread.

After I got strapped in, we spent the better part of the next 3 hours tuning. My A/Fs were bumpy - mostly over-rich except for this lean spot right at 5100 RPM that I am still trying to tune completely out. The other issue was my boost.
I came to the dyno fearful of over-boosting since that had occured on some of my street-tuning runs. Last night, I pulled my wastegate actuator, cut it open and milled the spring down so that it would open at a significantly lower pressure. The problem is, I still don't understand how the PRofec modulates boost. I kept increasing the duty cycle to no avail. The result was I was trapped at 6 PSI, though I have been preparing for 9 PSI.
I guess I'll go back once I learn how to program the PRofec correctly.

Peak HP was 225 HP at 6 PSI. I don't have a torque figure for the above-referenced reasons.

Sorry guys, but I'm not even going to bother putting the 2 minutes of video I shot on my computer.. it's boring... I don't think you guys would want to see a car standing still and making noise Better to look at the results instead.

Wish I could've made it, but had work and a kidlet to pick up for the weekend.

How does the 225 relate to prior hp? How much increase are we talking here?

That all depends on how you do it. Here's a video clip I made after dynoing my 540i. Since I only had one camera I combined three seperate runs into one in order to get different camera angles. For those who never been to such an event it helps give an idea of what they're like.

Note: the video is a Divx clip so you may need to download the appropriate codec to view it.

I still seem to down-load heaps of 60sec clips were I'm looking at an under exposed shot of an engine bay or a rpm gauge swinging round jeffs was excelent :p

the mph relates to rpm since they couldn't read rpm past 5000rpm. it depends what gear they were in and you can work out what rpm max hp was produced

Nice work on the turbos, we'd sure like to see all of you (turbo or not) out at this year's Rotary Revolution!

We've going to have a good size caravan coming from the Northeast this year. Come on out and put those cars through thier paces...
