The difference between summer tires and the Pirelli's is like night and day. I recommend them. Of course, the worst snow I've drivin in them was 3 inches.. and I had total control and tons of traction with them.

Because a Cadillac Allante and my Jet Ski's are in the Garage.. I normally put a car cover when it's going to snow.. but didn't get a chance to today.. besides, I'm going out in a little bit.

Whimp! :p That is but a dusting!

We got 4" of snow here.
Of course, the RX-8 is in the garage - my Miata is my ATV. I love that car. Indestructable. (touch wood)

It should be nice by Friday, though Saturday may bring up to a foot of new snow.

Here you go Jon, this is what you could be enjoying if you do decide to emigrate over here. Taken in front of my place, five minutes ago!

(I look forward to the dyno video...)

Regards, Gomez.

Guys, looking forward to your results. If things go well, just might have to get me one. Could someone give me a ballpark figure for the price of the Greddy turbo, including install, other parts needed etc. Just one ballpark figure. I'd hate to put all my money down on the turbo just to find out I need $1000 in other parts.

thanks

Todd

Ok, here's a ballpark figure of the minium things required to get this kit installed and running.

Greddy Turbo Kit: $3000-$3700 depending on where you buy it from.
Installation Labor: $900-$1500 depending on the shop.
Boost Gauge: $25 and up. FIgure on spending about $150 for a good gauge though.
Blow Off Valve & mounting flange: $175'ish depending on the brand

Now for other optional things that I would recommend:
Boost Controller: $200 and up
Turbo Timer: $90 and up
Other gauges: Price dependant on what you get
Oil Catch Can: $75 and up

there's so much more people add.. but the first group is what I would definately buy with the Greddy Kit.

Well, you can get away without a turbo timer if you use your head a little bit, you can get a boost controller if you're that worried about boost creep or overboosting for much less if you go with a Manual Boost Controller and not an electronic one.

Yup, until I figure out how to wire the turbo timer into my ignition, I just let the car idle for about 60 seconds before shutting down. That way the turbo still has oil flow during cool down.

You don't really even need to do that unless you were boosting like a mad man all the way into your driveway / parking lot. A few minutes of normal driving should cool that size turbo sufficiently.

I had a turbo timer on my FD for a while but never used it, it got to be more of an annoyance than anything helpful...

Sure. I'll be working on Saturday (whether or not it snows ), but I can do it on Sunday.
What is it you need welded?

I'm envious. I wish I could have at least gone there to watch. I hate being at lousy work.
