whats your opinion about the new looks?

saw it at the ny auto show. not as bad as the pics but i think its still pretty bad. i do not like it at all. only thing i liked were the seats. other than that i dont care for it.

 

Its ok. I'm not a big fan of the improvements, but those seats are really nice.

 

I really don't like the new exterior look . Not even the rims. But the seats are really cool...

 

I don't like how we won't be able to put strakes on lol. And I'm disappointed there wasn't even a slight hp/tq increase.

 

reasons I wont buy it.......

1. no fuel ecomnomy change
2. plastic is UGLY!!!!!!!!
3. doesnt have 16x engine
4. my fat *** cant fit in those seat ..... sniff
5. the steerig wheel

 

I'm really glad they made some engine improvements, but would have liked to see direct injection sooner. I like the new wheels. I like the larger oil cooler openings, actually I think they look really cool on the base model, but not so good with the cheesy plastic fog lights on the other models. Steering wheel sucks. No change to the 70's clock radio LED display sucks. Loss of fender vents and strakes sucks. Big ole plastic piece on the front sucks big time. When I saw the cosmetic changes, I went out and bought a Phantom Blue original design for a song. Great color and I love the original design so much more. It sounds silly, but I actually think of the original design as a work of art. I'm not opposed to change but I really don't like most of the cosmetic changes.

 

Hate it. Some things i dislike are the taillights, new nav (I liked how the old one could hide in the dash), and the steering wheel (the controls look like my friends 2003 altima). The only thing I like are the new Recaro seats.

I saw pictures of the new rx8 and didnt like it. I want to the NY auto show and saw the 8 and thought it looked pretty damn good the only thing i didnt like were the seats a little too tight for me but would be awesome for track days. I asked one of the mazda reps there about the 16x and they knew nothing about it unless they were just playing dumb. Anyway i read the 16x will be lighter and have bigger displacement. It is projected to make 275hp

 

I dont like it. I saw it in person and was seriously was upset.

 

i drove the 40th AE RX-8 and love the feel of it. Noticable difference from the regular RX-8. So the same parts listed for the 40th AE are the same ones that were said to be in the 2009 RX-8. Therefore the new rx8 is just some minor mods (aesthetics) but similar performance to the last model. i mean i will love them both regardless of which one i get next year, but if i were to get one right now i would just get the 40th AE

yeah i saw it at the auto show too and like you guys, thought the seats were the best improvement, any news on a possible relase of the mazdaspeed?

 

mazda will not be releasing the mazdaspeed rx8, but youll be able to build it yourself after buying the new rx8 and then piecing it together through the catalogs.

that was the last word mazda gave us on it.

I don't like the new design, though it might grow on me once a see more on the road.
I really didn't like the new tail-lights
hated the fact that they took away the side fender vents
and the steering wheel is just

But the plus is that the front looks better though it looks like the rotary accents, strakes and clearcorners can no longer be added to the car

i stick with the 40th anv. version over the new redesigned 09
