John Force Day at Tasca Ford

The event is on the ninth of September. John Force and Eric Medlen will be there to sign autographs. There will also be a cookout and a massive car show. Bob Tasca will have his alcohol funny on display, and he may even do a burnout with over 3,500 horsepower. Finally, there will be a horsepower shootout on their new dyno. It all looks like one hell of an event. I will be attending with my Shinka and my friend will have his Greddy turbo. You guys should definitley come and represent the Rotary community.

Sounds good, I can show off my tint!
Tasca is about 5 mins from my house. Those of you who do go - post a time & we can try and get the 8s there at the same time.

Hey read the thread on the Tasca show. Tried to buy a RX8 there but they tried to take my S2000 I was trading in for milk money, so I'm not a huge fan of that dealership. But I would definitly like to meet up with some fellow RX8 owners. I live in Warwick RI, If u have seen me around I have a velocity red with mazda speed side skirts and mazda speed front bumper. I had my stcok wheels powder coated, and I also have a greddy turbo kit, with greddy type with rs blowoff valve. I will be attending zoom zoom live on the saturday at 10am. I'm a newbie autocrosser with the BMW chapter in Mass, getting it down slowly but surely. Well if anyone just wants to hang out one night just let me know. I'm always down for some rotary talk.

^ I hear ya on Tasca. I actually paid ~$300 more for the car at Newport Autocenter b/c Tasca was such a typical BS dealership.

I want to autocross . . .

Cool. Thanks Imp. I will definitely check some out. I want to try it, but I'm a-scared. The 8 is my only car, so I'm not sure I can do it. Can't afford a mistake.

But I'll be expecting to see you take some checkers when I'm there as a spectator!

Was gonna start a thread asking for any MA 8 owners but RI is close enough. I live in Norwood so curious if the two current 8 owners frequent these boards. I've lately seen one Silver and a Blue several times in my area around Rt1 so yeah.. lol who are you guys?! I'm the lonely Black base model sitting in the parkinglot being protected by a HUGE Silver Solara (which the owner claims will own me ugh!).

That and reading through this thread I'm game for a mini-meet.

The silver you see is probably me! I work in Westwood and I drive through Rte 1 all the time. Did you get your 8 at Mazda Gallery? I see a velocity red come out of Canton Street all the time.

You're not going to hit anything solid. Cones don't damage the car. Cars are sent out one at a time in about 20 second intervals, so you're not going to hit another car either.

Go to http://video.google.com and look for videos using 'autox' as a keyword. You'll see what it's about. If you see any with lightpoles, we don't have any sites around here with them.

I didn't realize they were set up on open lots, etc., where it would be so difficult to cause any damage. Thanks again Imp. Maybe I can jump right into the 1st one I check out.

If you want to try, for free, in someone else's car...

http://www.zoomzoomlive.com This weekend at Weymouth Mass at the old Naval Air Station. (Near Quincy, about 45 min from Prov).

Also, see this thread: https://www.rx8club.com/ne-rx-8-forum-29/mazda-zoom-zoom-live-94660/

I'll be there Sunday.

I'm registered for 12pm. Though I may try to reschedule to an earlier time to avoid longer lines. Any idea if lines get to be an issue at the Mazda event?

Yeah I got mine at the Mazda Gallery. I got her rushed but I try not to dwell on it hehe. Their Service Dept to me has been 50/50, but I hate their sales floor they messed up on finding my title, messed up on my plates and oi yeah next time I go to a dealer for a new car they are gonna get the hardass sadly lol.

Were you in the Norwood Plaza around 3'sh last Tuesday? If so I seen ya! lol.. slowly starting to see a few 8's around Norwood but would like to actually "meet" one or a few of them.

I havent seen a Vel. Red one yet but I've seen a mod'ed up light blue 8 in the parkinglot of Fridays in Norwood every so often. Though I think the guy goes to the Chinese place since he parks on the total oposing side of fridays but I just forget the name lol.

I just made a drive from Cape Code to Central Jersey (in my sister's Civic) and I must say I was a little disappointed. I decided to pay attention on the way home to all the 8's that were on the road, but I quickly gave up after traveling the entirety of Rhode Island and seeing but one Copper Red Shinka going North on 95. I mean, I know we dont have a common car, but still...

P.S. - it seems like every rhode island police car is sitting on 95 every time I go through there...dont they have any other ways to generate revenue besides speeding tickets. like, uhhh, ummm, oh. Well, I hope my $85 goes to a good cause!

Tom - RI has a "good driver policy" that might prevent an insurance hit. Might be a hassle as far as showing up in court, but worth a call at least. If you have no speeding tickets w/in the last 3 years RI will dismiss your ticket, and it won't ever appear for you insurance company to find. I can probaly find the phone number you need if it's not on the ticket. Did you already pay it?

I don't think the Silver you saw was me since I was probably at work at that time. I got my 8 at Mazda Gallery also. I went in on a Monday after work for a0 test drive and made the deal the next day. I wasn't planning on buying at that time but since it was the last day of the month, the dealer budged on my offer. After I had gone home from the test drive, the dealer called me back half an hour before they were gonna close, and we came to an agreement.

I agree with you on the service, they seem to be very unorganized with their paperwork. I was rear ended and needed a new bumper and when I inspected the paint job it looked a little sloppy. They also made me wait over an hour for an oil change because it wasn't done when I came to pick it up after work. Their tech guys are real courteous though and they've treated me well.

Yeah their body shop is frigging horrible. They had my car for about 5 days and still didnt do the job right. That job, repainting my door sill's that had some rust on them. They didnt completly finish the job and there was dust clearly visible that was painted over. I brought it back and it looks like they just wet sanded that dust off and didnt retouch the other side which has a nice lil rust spot sticking out. They claim "Oh thats natural for the Rx-8 since it has no real B-pillar.", part of me is afraid to go back down there and have them redo it since I may blow up.

Their tech's I havent talked to any of them though the service reps like Drew are nice though at times as you stated disorganized. Even their Manager one day had no clue what was going on with my car. Mind you the door sill job should of been a 3 day deal not a 5 day one. Bah I need to go there tomorrow might as well suck it up and bring it up AGAIN!.. need new headlights and my visor replaced.

And not you huh? Darn lol.. so the mystery remains hmmm..

Yea Drew is good guy. He gave me a rent a car when I brought my car in before work for an oil change and for an inspection sticker. Yeah I'm still kind of pissed about the quality of the paint job on the bumper, you can definitely notice the paint dust. It's a brand new car with only 7k miles on it!

Did you get the deal from them for 8 free tires if you go there for all the scheduled maintenance?

Is that offered through the service dept or when you buy the car.. that has never been offered to me.

Yeah as some of you might of guessed Avoid Galleries BodyShop atleast the Mazda one. Might as well through this out since this is pretty much local.
Since I had a painting issue with my local Mazda bodyshop that was under warrenty would it be plausable to take it to another mazda dealership and have it done properly or is my *** stuck with dealing with the Norwood Dealership. I'm afraid to ask if they know what Wet Sanding is lol. And if I can you guys have any recommendations? I'm not looking for showroom, Riddler Award winning paint job but I'd like my back door sills to look like the front halves yanno. lol

By the way HolyCross you going to the NH car show on the 26th? Or anyone else from the South Shore for that matter.

^ You can choose to use any Mazda service dept. for any/all warranty work. For the most part, any dealership's service dept. would be more than happy to get you as a client.

In particular - the paint issue has been dealt with (poorly) so I don't know if another place can just redo and bill Mazda under the warranty. That may take a bit more hassle (like a written complaint to MNAO or something tangible that says "this place f'd it up & and it needs to be done again"). This is all based on my assumptions - I'm sure if you call a service dept. somewhere else they can tell you, and it doesn't cost anyone anything. Expecting the dealership to be great at painting is probably a pipe dream, anyway. Good luck.

Yes, the incentive was called the "Gallery Advantage Program" or something like that. I thought it was a great deal at first considering the stock potenzas retail at about 250 a piece, but you would have to take it to them for all your maintenance, and they tend to overcharge for that.

I am going to the exotic car show in NH. We should get some more people and drive up together. There is also a Mazda meet at Tasca in RI, and a bunch of people on this board are going to be there including some turbo'd 8s.

dmc - My sister has not paid the ticket yet. Ironically, this was her second speeding ticket(she has a feather foot compared to my other sister and I, neither of which have tickets!), and her other ticket was in Rhode Island last summer, so I don't know if the good driver thing would work out.

She might show up in court anyway, just because the whole thing was sort of screwey. We passed the cop (which i pointed out to her) and checked behind us for about a mile, he never pulled out. Then about 2 miles down the road, he pulled us over while we were in the right lane, said he clocked us going 80 (I checked the spedometer as we passed the cop to see if we should expect a ticket and her needle was barely at 75), and then was a dick when my sister was reading the ticket, telling her to hurry up because he couldnt stand outside all night.

I'll tell her about the good driver thing, thanks for the info.
