everyone starts in HPDE-1 when they join nasa with little/no experience. I'm going in under HPDE-1 even though i did do a time trial event with redline time attack.

You move up from HPDE1 to 2,3, and then 4. At 4 you can apply for licenses to race/compete.

EMRAracing.org

I've done a bunch of track days with them, they run at Lime Rock at least once a year. Great group, very friendly towards newbies. search for my past threads about track days with them

thanks for the info. its alot to take in. i was reading through some of the rules and car prep and am concerned about a few things. can you run with slotted/drilled rotors? i thought i saw something that said no. im really not wanting to get competive right away just to get some track time. what about mods?

i believe in some organizations you are put into classes based on your car and the mods. for nasa's hpde's i don't think there are any classes. this is the first time i will running with nasa.

they'd find it in tech inspection and you'd have to make sure your purge is working.

as long as they have plenty of material left and are not cracked...you should be fine.

It's an open track day, you can run with whatever car/parts you bring. It can be a completely stock street car, or a full-out stripped race car. The "classes" are only for purposes of evaluating cars of approximately equal capability against each other when looking at the timed runs.

As long as your car has seatbelts and isn't a convertable, you can pretty much run it there. go out and have some fun.
