Well, a shortblock is basically a stack of housings and irons with an e-shaft and rotors added in.

Mazmart have reported that Mazda use a fair number of new components (housings, rotors, iron, etc) in their remans. So, almost new.

Also, just my .02 cents, but the dealer warranty wouldn't hold up under "racing" circumstance, if they somehow found out your were racing the car when a problem happened Im sure they would try to deny coverage.

Yah, for racers or home DIY'ers the warranty becomes more of a statement of quality that differentiate it from a 50k mile JDM eBay engine (which usually have no meaningful warranty).
