I can't believe all that has happened. I spent half the night reading only half the posts on the event and my mouth is still opened. I will continue to read on.
Just to second this thought: I know it was mentioned it would be nice to make a weekend of it and if it were held at NJ Motorsports park or Atco, you can set up accommodations in Atlantic City. Both tracks are also reasonably close to A.C & Philly - both places with a night life. Only issue I see about A.C. accommodations is the summer is very busy for AC hotels.
Another idea is to somehow get together with Mazda Drivers and organize an exclusive Rotary event at VIR or Summit Point.
Keep it up - hopefully I can make the new event

yo jay i found this site that lists all the racetracks n road course locations all over the u.s.. it also shows all the drag strips too. it even has the road courses n drag strips that were never started. and theres a specific page in that site that has everything in NY related to motorsport.

I'm pretty much a noob, and have only been to 1 RX-8 meet, but I have experience setting up owners meets and events like you guys are looking to do...
Just to throw some ideas out there, what we used to do for one of my old owners clubs was set up an event at Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ every year. One year I coordinated with the track, and secured 2 lanes for owners only and did bracket style racing with 3 test runs each prior to the racing. Englishtown provided trophies for the winners which was nice.
The following year was a little more elaborate due to an awesome turn out. We went back to Englishtown and this time I worked with the group who was running a sanctioned Autocross event. They allowed us to park in our own area, set up a car show for our owners during the event, and those who wanted to auto-x did so (of course they had to register and pay the fee). The way it worked out was $10 for the car show and trophies, and if you wanted to auto-x it was whatever the fee was.
The same group also would hold a National Meet yearly in Myrtle Beach. With multiple events taking place over the weekend, car show, different dinners and get togethers, and serious go-karting!
I'll offer my assistance in helping create this event if I can be of use!
My fiancee and I are NCCA car show judges, and would love to help out.

Has anyone looked into whether or not he who shall remain nameless actually owns the copyright/trademark for "Rotorfest"? Just owning a domain name does not mean he owns the copyright/trademark. Yes, it might help his case some if it should ever go to court, but that doesn't mean that he automatically gets to claim it.
Just to throw in my opinion, I like RotaryJam (especially on toasted english muffins!).

The only thing that needs to be changed is 10% of the actual logo to not go against copyright laws. I own a business selling shirts and I did a lot of research on making my stuff legal and also trademarked it. I no the laws when it comes to this kind of stuff, Polak should no also. I am down to make the shirts for the next years event when you guys figure out the name. I did all the RX8web's stickers for them. I have the connections to get the stuff done. I wasn't allowed to sell there as per Vosco's rules. I will be there next year. I hope as one of the sponsors for the event. I was very willing to give stuff away to the winners until vosco screwed people and didn't want to look like a supporter of him.

^ and forced to change their handle to rotard.
I was thinking rotormania, as well. Rotojam sounds cool, too. Sounds like the wedding I had to attend kept me from getting pretty irritated.
but I'll ask around at a few of the places I think would be interested in supporting the rx community.

true Kel, forgot about them too, lol.
A lot of the names that have been suggested are great, and we have some time to really put our heads together and think of ideas for this.
I still say "RX's gone Wild!" would rock though...
