Tick,

You know a Greddy turbo kit for your 8 would probably have been cheaper than the FD. Of course I would hate to see what YOUR 8's gas mileage would be with the turbo. :D

I saw this nice yellow RX8 this weekend at Friday's on Hull Street. Mazdaspeed bodykit (or replica) that was lowered and had gun metal rims. The indention in the hood was painted black. Anyone else seen this around? Are you here yellow RX8?!?!

Wow, never seen that one- maybe was from out of town? I know of a black 8 I see at Genito and Hull a bunch, a blue 8 who's owner works at Target near Commonwealth 20(my friend's sister), and I see a titanium occasionally on Hull. The only yellow I know of is "DOOGIE" who works in Innsbrook. And he doesn't appear to have done anything to his...

It was pretty sweet.... but I was under the influence so I neglected to get a pic, oh well

Elara, are you around that side of town often? Anything visually different about your car I would have noticed?

I live just off Genito and Hull and work in Innsbrook. I have one of the few green RX-8s in Richmond. It's also got the factory body kit and spoiler on it. License plate is S3RNDPTY. Have an RX-8 Club decal on each push-out window in the back. Shouldn't be too hard to spot if you're good at noticing RX-8s

I just saw one on Courthouse that had some kind of bodykit and the BIGGEST wing I have ever seen. Was awful- I hope this wasn't the same car and whoever owns it has been adding more!

I also saw (and waved to) a black 8 in Smoketree- hi there, if you're here!

I just had another aweful experience at Cap Mazda. I brought my 8 in for an oil change I get the car back and there is a 2 1/2 scrape along my stearing wheel like someone took a screwdriver to the leather. The best part is that the service guy accuses me of bringing the car in like that. So I call mazda USA and all they say is that this is a dealer issue. What kind of morons did I buy a car from? Once again I will never and I repeat never buy another new mazda vehicle F-Mazda ,,l,, ,,l,,

Yes that was the one downfall regarding that car. The wing was massive and really ruined the overall look. The mazdaspeed body kit was breathtaking though. The rest of the car was really impressive.

I haven't seen your car yet. I drive mine to American Family Fitness all the time so i'm surprised I haven't seen you. I'll keep my eyes open. Mine is basically stock from an appearance standpoint except for chrome rims and the OEM spoiler.

Where did you get your RX8 club decals?

I have had the WORST experiences with Capitol Mazda now- I am NEVER going back there again after my warranty is up, and even less than that if I can get Whitten to honor it instead. Noticed dirt on the headliner the other day- I sure as hell didn't put it there. They didn't want to honor my free maintenance because I was on the 5k vs the 7.5k, and then they refused to put my new tires on because they weren't the original size and they said it would be "dangerous" even though half the 8 owners I know have the exact same size. I had to have the car TOWED to a different shop to get the damn things put on.

You weren't at Kroger getting gas yesterday, were you? There were FOUR 8s in the parking lot- a red getting gas, mine, and 2 titaniums.

I'm surprised you haven't seen me too, because we go to American Family (though not in the past month or so because it's gotten to be a bit of a hassle for me to do much of anything).

And Polak, of course!

Sorry to hear that.

I have had a long standing battle with Whitten on the issue of scraped steering wheel leather. They replaced my Miata wheel once and repaired it once. They also replaced my my RX-8 wheel after they scraped it the first time I took the car in. They claim I am the only customer to EVER have the problem.

It usually occurs when they replace the inspection sticker from the driver seat, the stuff in their shirt pocket nails the wheel, that and zippers from an open coat. I always dread them working in the interior.

I gave up. I bought a cheep-o steering wheel cover from Advance Auto, keep it in the glove box and I put it on whenever I take the car in for service. It looks goofy giving them a car with a fuzzy steering wheel but is saves the aggravation, even if they agree to replace the wheel.

If they don't replace your wheel, try using leather conditioner on the scrape over and over again. It softens it so you don't feel it (my main issue) and seems to make it less noticable.

They got greese all over my headliner when they "fixed" my transmission that is still messed up All they did was smear the oil on mine. I could not get them to replace the liner they claimed it was there already

Nope wasn't me. I try to stick with Shell V-Power as much as possible but that's getting increasingly harder with gas prices the way they are. Thank God I have another car with good gas mileage I can use.

About the service issues, the only time i've brought my RX8 in was to Whitten and they screwed up something as routine as an oil change..... WAY overfilled it.

You still need to pick up a cheap steering wheel cover to avoid the future grief. This will happen again!

good to hear- I noticed a power difference the one time I've filled up at the Kroger. I don't CARE if I get $.10 off per gallon cause I've spent $XXXX on groceries there, not using that again. However, I tried the Shell VPower, and it didn't make any noticeable improvement. So now I just go WaWa, since it's about the cheapest down there. Costco's isn't bad either, but I don't usually fill up when I'm near work.

So Whitten sucks too? How depressing. Maybe I'll just drive to Bill Britt in Fredericksburg- I hear they're actually very good.

Dood.. Goo back over the YEARS this thread has been going..and pay me a dime for every time you said that.

Then I can buy my LOTUS EXIGE when I get to Japan.

Looks like all the 8 owners are happy as ever.

I just sold my Legacy. What a great car she was..

I am now waiting for my VISA to come from the Japanese goverment so I can get on with my business.

I won't be going near any MAZDA products for a while.. Even though I am excited about the new MIATA or schould I say..MX-5..

But, I will be trying something from the Lotus stable.

I will let you know how it goes..

Yeah I was all about V-Power for a while but nobody seems to know if there is really anything special about it. Right now they offer 5cent off Mondays so I always fill up then no matter how much gas I need. My car just seems to perform the best with a tank full of V-Power.

I'm wondering... do I really EVER need to bring my car in for maintenance service as long as I do the things at each interval in the manual? I'm guessing the hard part is proving you did them. I haven't needed anything but oil changes thus far (well that and the brake TSB).

Yeah makes sense. Let's take one of the most known nameplates on this side of the world and call it a cryptic letter/number combination. Yes I know it's only a Miata in the US but still.... no reason for the change.

Sorry just venting... lol

I met up with a yellow RX-8 on Robious Road this morning. I've seen it around the Bellgrade Plantation for a while now. I was the one in the red RX-8 turning on to Robious from Salisbury Road.

Was that anyone on this forum?

Used to be a yellow one in my neighborhood with a carbon hood and aftermarket exhaust...but haven't seen it recently.
I live by the YMCA in Midlothian..occasionally I see a silver one on 288 or Charter Colony. Actually, I've started seeing quite a few around town lately...

Snizzle, I just saw your car over at the gym when we went to Panera for lunch. Unless, of course, there's another red 8 parked over there! Though there was a lady with a red 8 at Panera too, but she had the spoiler on hers.
