New NE RX-8 owner!

Someone at C/D forums recommended I try your forums, so here I am! I just bought a new Velocity Red 6-speed with the grand touring package on tuesday. I absolutely love the car so far! What should I look out for during the break in period? Obviously, I'm keeping the revs down (below 6K) and rarely using full throttle. Anything else? Looking forward to talking to you folks in the northeast.

Follow the manufacturers recommendations during break-in and then have a blast with it. Congrats and enjoy your new vehicle.

Welcome. Some say that there is no break in period. Some suggest to wait until 1000 miles. I personally kept RPMS down till I had at least 500 miles.

Enjoy your new ride!

All the best

Congrats! I just picked up my 8 about 10 days ago. I love it as well. Im tryin to get a good feel for it myself, these engines are new to me. Many have recommended keeping the rpm's down until around 500 miles, they you should be free to rev...haha
Have Fun........I know I am!

Welcome! :D
The owner's manual says 600 miles for the breakin ... see 4-7 in the manual. Suggest you change the oil at 1000 mi and then on a regular basis. Rotarys will live a long time with regular oil changes.
Another 8 in Columbia .... great ... I go for days without seeing another ....
