Americade shouldn't pose much of a problem as long as we can get hotel reservations. Lake Placid is farther away than most of those folks want to travel (every day) to get to Lake George.

Even though it starts on June 2, more than half of the bikes don't usually arrive until the following Friday (6th) since most of the official Americade stuff happens on the final few days of the meet.

I wouldn't worry about it - except to try to book hotel rooms early just in case.

Rotarysforever - I went to college with a guy from Baldwinsville... His name was Matt Stevens and I think he had 3 or 4 sisters - you happen to know the family? Matt lives in New Hampshire now, but I think his mom and a couple sisters still live in B-ville.

The plan (as I understand it) is to stay in Lake Placid. Being the weekend before the actual Americade events, the biker crowds should be much smaller and we should be okay staying that far away.

The only way to be sure is to call a few potential hotel/motels in Lake Placid and check into availability. I'll try to call a few tomorrow and check on availability for those dates.

I'm going to Americade this year (went last year too), and I agree that the majority of the bikes don't show up until later in the week. Hotels may be a problem around Lake George....Lake Placid shouldn't be an issue.

If this event is going to happen on the 31st/1st of June I may attend with my bike, not my car. But then again I'll have all my gear on board, so that may not be a good idea for me. Oh well.....will keep an ear out here to see what happens!

The official website for Americade is www.tourexpo.com

The weekend of 6/7 and 6/8 will be more crowded with bikes than the weekend before.

I called 3 hotels right in the village of Lake Placid this morning and checked availability for a one night stay on May 31. All three had "plenty" of rooms available.
I asked about a group rate with 20 or more rooms and they all said they would work with us on the rate. The Summit Hotel (where many stayed last year) would likely be the cheapest option if we stay in the village. Rooms would likely end up costing between $85 and $100 (including taxes) with a group rate.

The other two (Adirondack Inn and Northwoods Inn) would likely be $20 to $40 more per room.

I suggest we attack this issue early this year and get at least 20 people to commit to staying in one hotel and book a group rate. Now is probably a good time to start getting commitments - and by commitments I mean first a list of verbal commits then (when we get at least 20, we will collect $$$$.

If a group rate savings doesn't matter then it is definitely easier to just let folks book on their own.........

that sounds good to me... only thing I have to work out is if I'll be flying single or not, but should know soon...

RX Eight 7s - I don't recall anybody I specifically hung out with with the Stevens last name, however that name sounds familiar... when did they all graduate? I graduated in 2002 ... baldwinsville is pretty good size "small town" so we could be thinking of two diff people

Hotel update:
The Summit Hotel will give group rates for groups of 10 or more. The quoted rates for the night of May 31 are: $79 + Taxes for a standard room (2 twin beds or 1 queen) and $139 + Taxes for a suite. Check the website for details on the room accomodations.

They have plenty of rooms available but we should start booking soon. Once I commit to a group of 10 (or more) they will hold a block of rooms (as many as I request) and give folks about a week to call in with their credit cards to reserve. I assume they will give me some code for you (all) to use when calling in to get the group rate.

Let the games begin.

Rotarysforever: My friend graduated high school in 1986 and I think he was the youngest in his family.

The dates of May 31st and June 1st works great for me. Furthermore, I would be willing to commit to booking with a hotel sooner than later.

you guys should think about cordinating the spring run around the mazsport tuning in maine.

It would be fun to all go for a cruise to the ocean

How about a run up mount washington? that would be pretty sweet, group shot at the peak?

alternatively, cadillac mountain in bar harbor ME is also pretty nice for a quick up and down

And it still can, I was just wondering how set in stone your date was, because i know I've already started planning around the spring run (I was hopin to attend your event too) and it might be easier for some members if your event was the same as the spring run instead of the other way around.

Just tossin my 2 cents in

my date isnt set in stone at all, the only real kicker is that Scott has time to fly up here on the date that works with you guys.

and ontop of that, me and the other guy from the forum have our Mazsport turbos up and running at that time.

i just think if everyone came up to bangor we own enough property to do a nice parking lot photo session with all the cars, then tune.. with a drive to bar harbor with cadillac mountain, and a lobster feed.

Although Maine seems to be boring to some. With all my families business's farms etc. we could really have alot of fun with it.

ontop of hollywood slots should be open then.

Let me know what i could do to swing things in my direction.

We could print t-shirts or polo's that everyone could wear on the spring run. Ill insert our company logo on the sleeve and make it a write-off.

hmm i dont think youre getting what i was suggesting... the spring run is 2 days from what i understand.... if we cordinate the 2 event to be on the same weekend... we could swing by as part of the "run" and hang out there for the day, crusie around up there.. that way we keep the whole "run" aspect and get to meet you guys and tune or whatever

no, i totally get it The tuning might be done by the weekend becuase we were planning for wednesday and thurday to be work days and then friday saturday to be fun days for scott and his wife. Im basically down for whatever, i can cater to everyones needs really all i need to have accomplished is my car tuned by scott. Then after that we can let the masses make the choices.

We can make this work. Its hard to understand something like this through posting. haha

WE JUST KEEP CONFUZZLING EACHOTHER.

haha

Scott is going to be in maine wednesday - sunday

i dont want to bore everyone with my raw tuning during the run. So what i thought we could do is on the weekend have everyone come and we can dyno my car to show everyone what it does.

I just want to do the work on my car with minimal people around.

The run will still be the weekend NO MATTER WHAT.

LETS GET THIS ORGANIZED

HAHA.. ok.. But me being a tuner would love to see Scotts methods and maybe learn some things i didnt know previously..

I say keep your event on the weeknd you planned and we'll keep the spring run on the weekend it was planned for. Who ever makes it, makes it... im sure it will still be a solid turnout for both events.
