^ does it count that even though you were a few rooms away, the walls were so thin it was like i was rooming with you?

My wife and I stayed at the Hilton last year. The room had a balcony overlooking Mirror Lake and cost us $80. Hopefully, the offseason prices will be similar this year. People on a budget could easily share a room and pay $40 each.

The biggest expense would be gas. Figure on 800-1200 miles (the run itself was about 700-800) depending on how far away you live. I averaged 22mpg (ha-ha) on the trip, despite heavy use of low gears, but most others were in the teens. Figure on $150 for gas. Meals can always be cheap or expensive. The group meal near Ausable was actually really inexpensive, but most of the choices in Placid were in the $20 per plate plus drinks range. Of course, having a host like RXeight7s on Saturday was awesome, and really kept the cost down for everyone.

It would be hard to do this for less than $250, but that is probably a reasonable rock bottom cost estimate for someone willing to share a room and eat a lot of fast food. $400 would be a lot easier to work with.

Darkrose, we would hope that pertinent information, such as where to find a carwash, will not be withheld this year.

I'll even map it out for ya!!

My disclaimer is that I BELIEVE it was located here, about 5 miles before we hit Lake Placid. It was completely touch-free:

Maybe we should start a database of all touch-free car washes in the United States.

That might not be a bad plan. When I ask locals about it they stare at me like I'm from another planet...

There will not be any rain this year, thus no need for the car wash!

And the date is expected to be one of the last 2 weekends of May.

HI everybody,

I'm from Syracuse NY - have/is anyone from there or come across any 8 owners out there???? Anyways, wanted to come up for this run last year but wasn't financially prepared for it, so I really want to make it happen this year... I grew up camping all over the northeast, especially the Adirondacks and would love to cruise up there on a tour... Down in Charlotte, NC right now, but have been trying to get back home and participate in these events! hopefully, if all goes well, I should be up there around the same time (april to may) that everyone's planning the 2008 NE run. Can't wait!

I am about 30 miles east of the Syracuse area. I am generally out there once or twice a week for my job. So I am around in my BB. I also have a friend that lives in the syracuse area with an 8 as well. Feel free to get ahold of me and we can get together or something.

awesome sounds good... I too have a BB and I'm always zipping around trying to find other 8 owners when I'm home... again once I get back up there it would be great to meet the other CNY folk driving an 8...

I am *SO* definitely in! I liked it so much last year the GF and I took a drive to Crawford notch later that summer and were planning another Adirondack trip for this one!

Yeah, that year I won't get caught being the guy with the ugly dirty black 8 while everyone else's 8 is strangely clean overnight :P

Holy macaroni! I think we paid something like 180$ last year for a room at the Hilton and quite frankly, it wasn't impressive at all. Not booking there this time that's for sure.

fixed. Not that I was awake early enough that I could have gone to the carwash anyway.

I'm really all hyped up. Don't laugh!

Here's a map of roads I wanted to try this year... plus I highlighted Lake Placid and Corinth, where if I remember correctly RxEight7 is located.

Oh and btw... blast from the past. Click image for vid

Actually, the way that shoud read is "you were one of the MANY people with dirty cars, while one of the girls' cars was strangely clean the next morning."

Yeah... not only did you have the nicest color, but also the cleanest/shiniest car. UNFAIR!
