hmmm hearing you two bicker gave me an idea for a decal..

"caution anything over 300whp will cause interior plastics to break"

lets face it. rx7s are pieces of **** and thats why we love em. if my 7 was as nice as my 8 when i got it. i would have sold it. the rx7 is the ULTIMATE palate that allows u to customize it as you please.

andy i am right. how many people do you know besides dennis that doesnt have a build log or can compile their car into a build log because it was down gettng MULTIPLE modifications.

check the build thread section. it always starts out as needing an engine rebuild and by the time its back out its single turbo'd vmic and the whole 9 yards. gooddddddddnight.

i swear they look better in person and they are not actually pepto bismol pink.

I'm putting a v8 in my other car because I'd like to try something different and rotary shops are in short supply. I think you should be asking another question. Why am I keeping my other car rotary?

I wouldn't call you a hypocrite. I don't know if I'd call you a fool either. If you think that the rotary doesn't fit you anymore, that doesn't make you stupid or anything.

I disagree. N/A and well taken care of stock turbo rotarys still last a long time. Sure it's rare for a stock FD to be on it's original engine and be in 6 figures but it's a sportscar man. Sure there are other sportscars that last much longer but you don't buy a sportscar to last long, you buy it because it's ******* fun as ****. Rotarys weren't made to be poorly modded and they definitely weren't designed to be torn apart and prepped after every race. As far as I know, the NSU spider wasn't being pushed by NSU into racing right?

I'm not disagreeing with the fact that people have to spend alot of money on their rotarys to make them reliable but you can't really make an assessment on pleasure received from other cars because you aren't everyone. How many times have you read about people coming back to Rx7s or people wanting to get back in them after leaving them? People like their cars for different reasons.

Dude, I don't get that feeling at all. I used to when my car was stock. After I got my water injection going, I couldn't be more comfortable driving my car. I never had one moment during my time to and from deals or during dragon runs where I felt my car was going to blow up. In fact, my temperatures during the runs were the most optimal when I boosted.

I never said you cheapened out man. I said I did. Hmmm I've owned my car for less time than you have, not much more I think. Of course, as you know, it's been at shops a long time. When I've had the car in my possession though I've driven it alot. I put 4k on the car almost immediately when my car was red. After the mods, maybe I put at least 2k more of fun driving and 1k of misc? Best 2k EVER. Like I said, the problems I encounter now are due to me and I have no one else to blame. I've been warned during the process and it just so happens that it bit me in the ***.

That's great man. Bikes are awesome. I'd love to get into them and I'm happy you love them.

I disagree man. People could have very reliable modded cars but they choose not to because they want more. **** I get it man. I didn't then but I do now. My original plans for keeping the car modest went out the window. I want more, this **** is fun! The truth is, right now, if I kept my car the way it was and get rebuilt or new motor with new turbos like I should have, I think my car would last a long time. My temperatures are solid and my boost levels are stock (for the newer spec FDs). There are many people that don't have build logs or can't compile one. The ones you see posting on 7 club are the ones that love to do that. I actually have a co-worker who's father owns an FD and his car is almost completely stock. He takes it out to the track and does the maintenance and he loves it. He loves is better than his porsche.

Well, why not go for the whole 9 right? It doesn't mean that the car NEEDs the mods. It just means that the owner wants more. You could have gone with something more stockish with water injection and less power and you would have been fine but you wanted more. Looks like I'll be tired at work again. As far as the necessary rebuilds, yea man these cars are old as **** and ***** are pretty ******* old.

I'm sure the pink looks great man. It does on the other stuff you did. It was fun watching people diss you and see the pink in person and realize that it looks nice hahaha.

Goodnight!

i had this big thing written out, but i dont really care that much, point is, look at history, look at sales, when has a rotary ever beaten anybody elses car besides races? who cares what company designed the original for, wheres NSU now?

of course anyone is entitled to their own thoughts and opinions, its just a little crazy to say reliable and rotary in the same sentence ever lol

oh btw, when i say stuff like above(ex you can say i cheapened out) im not saying you say that, its just the way i write i mean that in general not directed, not attacking you andy, just debating with ya

Yea I wrote a big thing and clicked the ad by mistake and now it's gone.

Rotary sales before the gas crisis were pretty good. FB, FC and Rx8 sales were also really good for their niche. Even the FD, especially in Japan. As far as the rotary beating anyone else, I mean the rotary wasn't designed for gas mileage right? The motor was designed for fun and that's not really measurable across the board. You can say the same thing about any novelty, high powered motor though (if I understand your statement correctly that is). I mentioned the NSU because you said that rotarys were designed to be torn apart often.

I think rotarys can be reliable. Lets single out the most unreliable group, the modded turbo rotarys. With enough money, these cars can last a long time. If people stayed at lower levels of power with alot of support mods instead of trying to push the envelope with what they have, I think we can both agree that FDs would last alot longer. What does everyone do though? They get thier support mods done and they try to get the most power they can.

Allight night man I'll speak to you tomorrow. Man I'm going to be so tired tomorrow.

This conversation actually helped me alot with my decision on what to do with my replica. I think I might just stick to running lower boost instead of seeing how high I can get with my BNRs.

I think the main reason for this is we are all slaves to the Mechanic's...
Truth is, if we didnt only have ONE place to fix our cars... they would probably be on the road a lot longer & faster.

Ive had mine for almost 5 years now.... and Ive put tooooo many miles to even count. My mentality isnt "Oh something's gonna break today" its more like "Let me enjoy the **** out of this...." if something does go, im ready to fix it.... no matter what...no matter the cost. And I think that goes for any car enthusiast.

thanks for jinxing it... Somethings going to break now!!!!!...lol
I think like everything else, Its moderation...... you have to balance the car with life.... which is why this year im trying to do a crap load of traveling.... because un the the RX those memories will never break!!! lol

P.S.
as much as I hate the white... the pink stickers actually make it pretty dope.

Dave,
you are depressing the **** out of me! let me take that FD off your hands so you can enjoy a better quality of life.

The Love of the rotary has to do with having knowledge and passion for something the masses do not understand or posses. well done FD';s get exotic car reactions. the 8 done right gets "what kind of cars is that?" even the most skilled auto mechanic can not just dive into a rotary, it takes specific skills and for that reason we buy, we drive, we mod, we repair.

Dude no one wants to take my car right now . Everyone is so busy. It's driving me insane.

Yea man. If we had TONS of mechanics competing with each other on the quality of work vs. price, we would have alot more monet to have stuff done to our cars to keep them tip top. CA is the place to be

I'd hate to speak for Dennis but he's down for Edgewater! If you guys stay up late I'll try to stop by.

Dave I feel like a proud papa
You made me tear when you said it best rotary are best for road racing.
But if that was the case nobody would have one.
The rx7 is a car I think every jdm car nut should try.
It will one day make you appreciate or hate the next sports car.
I will always have a sweet spot for a clean rotary but now older and wiser never again.
So when we picking up Godzilla
