my tints are pretty dark...BUT most people what they dont know is police arent allowed to harass you about your tints...they cant pull you over or give you a ticket...UNLESS you were pulled over for a moving violation or something...because it is a 2ndary offense...therefore the cops are not allowed to pull you over and say anyhting about your tints....just if you Do get pulled over have the lights in your car on and just roll down your windows...usually that workd for me when i have been pulled over...and the legal i 35% on the 2 front windows you can have anything in the back as dark as you can i think...and 6 inches below the top for your sunstrip...

I'm not concerned with the limousine look, I just want to keep it a bit cooler in summer, so if you have additional recommendations (color, etc.) I'd be interested in the info.
There's a place in Snowden River Parkway, behind Fudruckers. I had my windows tinted from them before. They are really good with the tints esp. for the back window. I'm going to get my windows tinted again. I think I'm going to get 10% this time.

btw, I was thinking on doing 35% on the front windows, prolly 5% in the rear windows, and 20% rear windshield.

what do you guys think?

i have 30% on my car as well. however, later i found out that the windows come stock factory tinted to 7-8%. so we are really running around with 22-23% tint.

Their phone number is 410.772.0933.

Their address is the following:

6470 E. Dobbin Center Way
Dobbin Auto Park
Columbia, MD 21045

For your information, 20% in my opinion is too light. If you don't have illegal stuff done to your car, I would go as dark as you can with your tints. I previously did not have a license plate on my car, so the cop gave me a repair order for my tints after pulling me over for my front plate. If your car is stock, don't worry about going dark on tints.

You'll be fine. It does take time to get used to it at night. Oh yeah, the place that I mentioned earlier did mine for $150, which is a real good price. Believe me.

Too light for the limousine look, or too light to block solar heat?

Frankly, I don't mind getting checked out while I'm driving, it's just that all-black interior is working against me.

Yeah I wasn't happy with them either. They knew pretty much ZERO about the rotary. Or cars in general for that matter. The service manager is trying to make conversation with me about the car and says, "Did you know you have to let it warm up? It's because it's a performance engine. All performance engines are like that."

Then I brought the car in after my motor mounts failed and they gave the car back to me saying that they could not find the problem. I already told them what the problem was! So I told them I'm not taking the car back until they replaced the motor mounts. After they finished replacing them, they admitted that they were wrong and the car ran much better.

Oh, and I forgot. When I bought the car from there, one of the conditions of purchase was that they paint the calipers red since they had red paint that was flaking off. So they painted them and I went on my merry way. Then the car started to make vibrating noises...sounded like a helicopter when I let off the gas! So I brought the car in and told them to take a look at it. They give me a call back and give me a lecturing tone and say, "Who painted your calipers? They obviously did not tighten your wheels and brakes correctly." I told them that they did it, and the shock was priceless.

Dealerships...never dealing with them again.

Hahaha, that is hilarious.
Yeah they have issues over there. So funny they actually try and pull some stuff that would normally only work on a soccer mom.

I take it in telling them the brake is squealing. The service notes say "tire shine got on brake rotor, making squeaking sound, cleaned off, sound gone."

About a week later, squealing sound is back. I take it in, this time bringing a copy of the TSB with me and showing it to the manager, saying "this is covered by warranty right? it's exactly what's described in this TSB thingy here."

I took it in once and didn't have any problem getting them to take care of anything that had a tsb on it. But anything that didn't, anything that was unique to my car and "well sir they couldn't reproduce the problem." Like my creaky sunroof, which creaked as soon as I hit a bump on the way out of the dealership parking lot

Gosh I'm happy to read this thread about the poor quality of gaithersburg mazda first.

I just moved to MD from middle west yesterday. So checking in...and saying hi to everyone here.

Anyone could kindly recommend a good rx8 service shop and a body shop in central MD? I live at Clarksburg. Thanks!!

No my car is stickerless. I don't know if I could bring myself to put one on there, y'know.

Man that sucks about Gberg and their making you wait.
I've had my car there a total of two times, and both times they also moved at near-glacial speeds in my case. I mean really, really slow. They never call you back. I call and they're always "with a customer". Or you leave a message and they never call back. It's always you calling them back first. One time they gave me the "with a customer can I take a message" line and I replied "you know he's getting real hard to get hold of, I mean, ridiculously so. I guess I need to just come all the way down there now." To which I got, "one moment sir," and poof there he was on the phone. Wow.

I had the old dude as my service manager, forget his name. I wouldn't take no for an answer as far as rental car goes the second time, seeing as I had a literal bloody slew of TSBs I was waving around over there. (BTW, just got yet _another_ one that needs fixing: parking brake cover broke exactly as in the TSB).
I made it easy on them by also ordering up some nonwarranty work at the same time, cost of about $60. It helps them swallow all the warrenty/TSB stuff and feel like they're getting something out of you in the end, which is their only reason for existence.

If I was you I wouldn't take no for an answer on the rental. They fubarred your car and they're not taking proper responsiblity? The bloody least they can do is a free loaner. Heck, they should loan you an RX8, not a crappy old auto 3. Maybe time to approach the BBB, or even think about a lawyer. Have a lawyer contact them, and see if that gets their butts in gear.
