I drive on Great Seneca all the time. Over in Gaithersburg people drive horribly on that road. Tons of people who refuse to go higher than ten below the speed limit, for who knows why.

Lol, yeah I'm white. Are you trying to say you see an RX8 like mine bein driven by a white guy all the time? If so yeah that's me then.

If you saw a guy turning left on from Kentlands blvd onto Great Seneca doing about 40 in order to not miss the light and then skid through the intersection with a little bit of tail-out, and then heard someone laughing afterwards that was me, too, lol.

I saw a black 8 coming down the opposite lane on Great Seneca just after that.

You may see another 8 that ain't mine though. There is another 8 owner always parked in the same place around my area with one that looks exactly like mine
(all stock w/ appearance packages). Still haven't figured out who that is.

Not sure if I have seen yours. I think I saw one with black rims at the Circuit City on Fredrick (the shopping center with BB&B, Staples, and CC in one shopping center, with a hooters nearby), so if you're ever over there I saw you most likely. Have seen a ton of 8s there.

As far as CEL I'm probably too noob to help. But, how many miles you got? If it's like 60k it may be scheduled to light up to go in and get belts checked. Only way I could think AC would cause it is if the belt was slipping and AC not getting enough power to function properly. Anyone else?

alright...so im very sad to say...something bad has happened...from my previous post i do not think it is the belt..MY cel was on...and i was driving...and i started 2 experience power loss.. i would start going past 4 rpms and it would drop back down like it didnt wanna go.....so i pulled over to see if giving it a quick rest ...and when i tried starting it back up it wudnt start..so i got it towed to gaithersburg mazda seeing i was at lakeforest mall..well the tow truck guy tried starting the car and it took like 3 seconds to start it..but when it started it sounded like a lawn mower....also he treid revving it...and it uwdnt go past 4 rpms....so any thouhts?

if its at the dealership have them do a compression test and the MSP16, and also check the coils ,,, it may be either or both of these, its not flooded or it ouldnt have started and then it wouldnt have had problems building revs,,, so it may be your compression,,,,hopefully not becasue thats where it gets really expensive...

Wow! No, I think fixing it would be cheaper. You will lose at least $4-5k if you try to sell it with a busted engine. Costs less than that to fix out-of-warranty, and you may be in-warranty now that they cover the engine core for 100,000 miles.

But it could also be your catalytic converter had a catastrophic collapse. Not sure what you mean by "sounded like a lawnmower", but the other symptoms could be a completely plugged cat converter.

Good luck.

yea its still under warranty...anyway if it does need a new motor...what is the process...how long would it take for them to replace it..and also if they dont cover it under warranty my cousin said i might as well just do an engine swap...so right now im going over my finanaces and hoping that it is covered under warranty..and i also know if i do do an engine swap its gonna be more than just the engine...tranny...etc etc

if the vehicle is still under warranty and you don't have any sort of engine modification, then it's a go. depending how busy the dealership is they'll need to squeeze you into their schedule. doing compression testing and getting the ok to replace the motor may take a day or two and placing an order for one may take 3 days. putting it in may take a day or two as well. so you're probably looking at about 2 weeks at the most.

don't worry about doing engine swaps, that's just not cost efficient. let your warranty take care of you.

i don't do body work. just mechanical stuff. clear corners are a breeze. you could probably do it yourself. check the DIY threads.

Can anyone recommend a tint shop in the Central Maryland (Laurel/Columbia) area? Or do you recommend buying precut DIY kits?

I'm not concerned with the limousine look, I just want to keep it a bit cooler in summer, so if you have additional recommendations (color, etc.) I'd be interested in the info.

As the tints are illegal in Maryland, you don't want to go too crazy on color and darkness. You don't want to attract too much attention. I learned the hard way :-( I had real dark tints and a Mr state po po decided to force me to rip them off (jealous bastard!). I about cried....
