Jeez I wish I was able to go to that one, my buddies told me the course was awesome for Bowie. I ended up driving to Buffalo that day and then back Sunday evening. I will be at the Frederick event on the 19th though.

I think you could probably just take them off and do it yourself?

If I can get my power steering fixed by then I might run it, either way I'll probably try to make it out to watch. I can't get the capital racing site to work right now, anyone know what time this is?

I've never needed upholstery type work done, but I went to an upholstery shop in bel air on the other side of Baltimore pike from the goodwill to have my wifes Miata convertible top replaced, the guy was quick, competent and professional. I'd recommend him.

I don't remember the name of the shop, sorry.

It's this Sunday, tech opens at 8 and we typically start around 9 or so, but it runs all day long, I'm in heat 2 of 3 so I expect to be on the road home around 2-3pm. If your power steering isn't working then you're welcome to ride along with me(or anyone else there really) hope to see you there.

I just signed up. This is going to be my first autocross, so let's hope I don't suck!

I noticed on the site that there is often a dB limit for the courses, should I try to make time to put my cat and stock exhaust back on, or is Harry Grove usually pretty tolerant of loud cars?

As long as you're street able it shouldn't be a problem, there are AC Cobras there that pretty much run straight pipes so you'd struggle to be louder than them! I did my first at Harry grove also, it's a good first timer course since its relatively small and slow so you won't get lost you're welcome to ride with me in heat 2, here's my number in case you don't spot me 4435285164

Finally joined. Been lurking and reading here for well over a year. Great info. A Red gen 1 passed me today on I97 north in traffic and gave me a two rev snort hello.

Well I still haven't heard back from the stealership so I am starting to think I'm going to be sitting this one out. I might take one of you up on riding shotgun though...

Are there any kind of modification restrictions for these events?

there are generally no limits to modifications as long as they dont compromise safety. CDC is a pretty relaxed atmosphere when it comes to the competition, its really a run what you brung kind of outfit. At an SCCA event, by contrast, you would be expected to disclose all your mods and they would tell you what classes you can run in as configured, but pretty much anything goes.

I would say that for an event at harry grove in Frederick that if you have a VERY low car you might want to skip it as there's a dip in the middle of the lot that the lingenfelter 'vette scrapes on. Hope your car gets up and running, but if not you could co-drive my car if you feel comfortable with it after riding along. The event is fully booked but if we get some no shows im sure Ed would let you squeeze in some runs at a good introductory rate.

Welcome Denim, glad to see some RX love out there, only person who ever acknowledges me on the road is Adam!

Oh and if you see a Red Series I with a utility trailer full of stuff, that'd be me!

I don't think I've ever seen you around... do you frequent Frederick?
What happens to the race if it rains?

Hey I'm new to rx8 club and I am about to purchase an rx8 and was wondering if there is anyone in Maryland who could help me make some decisions and answers some questions I may have on the car. If someone could pm me and chat and talk about the rx8 and their experience with it and just help me out I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Shoot me a pm with any questions you might have and I'll do my best to answer them. I've had an RX-8 for about 7 months now and love it more than anything else I've driven.

Same here. I have a series-II RX-8 for a while now and can definitely answer any questions you may have. Like BrokenRecord, I love mine so much that I got another series-II after totaling my 2011 R3.

Generally we run anyway, Frederick doesn't offer a rain date. slippery conditions separate the good from the great

I'm only in the frederick area for autocross, I live just south of bel air and commute to Catonsville, so that's where I could be spotted.

I saw on the roster we have three rx8s signed up for tomorrow I'm so used to being the only one! Looking forward to this one as I haven't been in awhile, look forward to seeing some of you there.

I'm totally psyched for it, and admittedly, a little nervous! I'm #906.

Any idea how long these usually last / how many times each entrant gets to drive?

I'm kind of glad I am not having my first time in the rain now... I will bring my camera tomorrow and see if I can't get some action shots of you guys if you want.

Had a great time, thanks for letting me ride along.
I can't figure out how to embed videos, but here are a couple of your runs:

Chris's AutoX Run Frederick 5-19-13 - YouTube

Nate's AutoX Run Frederick 5-19-13 - YouTube

Awesome, thanks for posting those! I see the one video is of my initial "oh **** where do I go?" run, glad I got a (little) bit quicker over the course of the day. Hopefully in a few months I'll have a shot at (almost) keeping up with Nate!

I'm working on editing my GoPro footage to put up in a little bit.

Good to meet both of you in person. Hopefully your power-steering will be fixed in time for the next one so you can participate Jon!

How bad is it? You might be able to fix it yourself.

My six runs from today. Nate (Nathan Atkins) is coaching me for the first three and Jon (bladeiai) is riding with me for the last three. I was slow as hell but had a helluva good time. I highly recommend that everyone give autocross a try at least once.

Great to have you out today Chris, sorry for just up and bolting as I did, I wanted to see your afternoon runs but was under pressure from the wife to hurry up and get back! I did see the times were posted on the CDC forum already and that you improved on every run, that's what you want to see! Hope to see you next event, and ill bring the tools to reseat your power plant frame and bleed your clutch slave cylinder.
