I would say the only shop that truly specializes in rotary around here is in Frederick. Peter Farell Tuning, PF Tuning. I went there once to poke around. They had something like 17 assorted rx-7s and 8s lying around. They can def tune. A bit expensive, and they require a compression test before touching your car. As far as I could tell they were sorta 8 haters, b/c of big power problems. Or so they said. But they could def tune it. Cobb or Intercept.x . Thats what i got so thats what i asked about.

Hope this helps someone.

P.S. if you do go get tuned there I am interested to hear the results. I'm currently still running on a Mazsport Map from 2005.

I'm just going to post the pics that i was able to take while i was installing the BHR coils i was running out of light and battery. A wright i feel isn't needed cuz when you purchase the kit it comes with detailed instructions that are very simple to follow the whole install took bout 15mins if that.

After installing the BHR kit startup was almost instantaneous, throttle response was improved, the torque and acceleration improvement was also noticeable and smooth. Now it did stubble a few times at idle after coming down from 8k but i believe that was due to the screen in my AEM CAI right before the MAFS, I removed the MAF and looked inside and the screen wasn't seated right causing the air flow to be distorted. All in all a MUST do upgrade PERIOD!!!! well worth the $500.

Thanks for the info. How many miles did you put on the old setup before you did the upgrade?

about 15k the coils where in good condition when i was working at Mazda me and a co-worker came up with and idea to prolong the oem coils that seemed to work well, I have a plastic welder and what we did was take a flat piece of abs plastic and closed in the bottom portion of each coil and coated the mounting bracket with rubberized undercoating cause one of the main reasons the oem coils would go bad is voltage leak and the coils shorting to ground through the bottom of the coil. and the wires where the 8mm wires from rotaryfx and they where only on the car for bout 9k

Did the autocross in Waldorf, I don't much care for the way they run things at Autocrossers Inc but I did get to meet some other 8 owners. They were both total novices to autocross but seemed to have some fun with it. I'm hoping Ben gets his car ready and gives me some solid competition, and anyone else that wants to test their modified cars against me and my stocker. I need someone to knock me off my pedestal after being quickest in class Sunday .

If anyone wants a set of ceramic, low dust brake pads for free hit me up, they aren't aggressive enough for autocross, but they'll sure keep your wheels pretty! They have about 8/32 material left

Got a sliver 8 in the shop, looks like dude went to fitestone for a oil change, and they didn't use a crush washer but a regular type washer and only put the drain plug in finger tight, motor is half filled with oil. if the owner is a member here I would hed the warning. since it was done at another shop legally we can't do anything bout it without customers concent

This is sort of off topic... but I saw a pearl white Series 1 parked over next to brewers alley when I was walking home one night (Probably about a month ago now) in Frederick. Was that anybody on here? If so what carbon splitters were on your front lip?

@wankelbolt yeah no kidding, Ripken is about 10 minutes from my place, as it is now my nearest autox venue is still an hours drive, as for anyone else that wants to go, I generally go with CDC so check out their schedule at capitaldrivingclub.com

SCCA event 4/13 at FedEx field, hope to see some challengers, sign up as early as you're able, I'm running in STX so I can face off with my buddy Alex, but I think I should've picked RCS since a couple of rx8s have shown up now.

Nathan, I have a subscription to all of the WDCR-SCCA Autocross events. I'm in RCS class, along with several other RX-8's. See you that weekend.
