yeah Greg you know how it goes, I never really made it a priority to get out there for kart racing and it didn't happen. The autocross this weekend is in frederick, registration is closed but here is a schedule of future events. I plan to get out there every month if possible.

hahah yes. I did consider keeping it stock, because its very pristine condition but everyone keeps telling me to mod it. Ive got a wish list as long as the 8s and the best thing is when I went to price it all out it ended up about a tenth of what I've spent on the 8, so yeah its getting modded.
Here's a link to an awful video of me autocrossing, the RX-8 was so beautifully poised, I'm hooked! I'll be fitting the new tires this week and will be ready for more next month! NOTE: THERE IS A LOT OF AMBIENT NOISE, HEADPHONE USERS BEWARE

It'll open up about a week before the event, I'm probably going to be meeting with the same S2K guys and driving up together from Panera Bread at White Marsh like we did Saturday.
By the way, I beat both of the S2K guys I went with, and one of them was an S2KCR and the other was on Direzza Z1 Star Spec's! I'm quite proud of that! They said i had beginner's luck, guess we'll find out next month. Hope to see some of you there.
Here's the results from Saturday, I was 2nd in my class (C143)

Yeah man, If you want to meet up, last time we met at white marsh and had breakfast at the Panera Bread there and just convoyed together to the event. I was doing some reading though and I think i may want to look into Philly SCCA, they do Autocross at Ripken stadium outside of Aberdeen, It's about 10 bucks more per person but it's at LEAST 10 bucks savings in fuel alone. I'll keep you guys posted on what's going on and We can get together if you like.

Double check that, but if your correct let me know I am interested in that.

You're right, Philly SCCA they did cancel the Ripken Stadium events, they have a new venue out in Delaware, but SCCA are a bit stuck up from what i hear. CDC were pretty laid back and more about fun than the competition.

I think what your referring to as stuck up just may be the very strict and concise rules that SCCA maintains, it all comes down to safety and safety isn't always the fun thing, but its there for a reason.
yeah maybe stuck up wasn't the right phrase, I was more referring to them being sticklers for vehicle classification, for example, at CDC I was classified as having 200-250whp which we all know isn't right for a stock MT RX-8. I could have gone to registration and said "I really only make about 180 to the wheels" and been in a lower class. "Oh and btw my car is 3029 lbs so i should be in the 3000-3500 class not 2500-3000," and they would have said "Whatever you say dude, just have a good time."
From what I was told, and this is just hearsay, I'd have had to prove the whp and they would've pulled out the scales, la-dee-dah, etc.
CDC didn't make any compromises to safety but there were no fun-sapping **** retentive weasels running around saying things like "You don't have power seats there's no WAY that's over 3000 lbs!" It was just car guys having fun, safely and legally, without taking the competition side too seriously.
Now, that being said, I shouldn't judge SCCA on hearsay and I'll reserve my presumptions until I get a chance to sample enough of their events to get a good idea of what they're really about.

I was experimenting with different camera locations for next months autocross and recorded the run to my son's school with the camera mounted to the front bumper. Don't expect any crazy driving (I'm still breaking in the Firehawks)

I haven't auto-x with CDC since I had my Mazdaspeed 3. Looking forward to doing it again this year since I just picked up a brand new 2011 R3. Hope to see you at Harry Grove sometimes Nathan.
