For any passerby's that Jeep Liberty that screw up all the shots is *THIS* guy!!! That's right, it's my current Jeep Rx-8, because my 8 wanted to crap the bed. Fingers crossed that insurance will cover it!

A proposition for the locals: I got some new, OEM multi-tint fogs from a place, but they accidentally sent the wrong color the first time. My Multi-tints are on the car, but I still have the Blue ones they sent me because my return shipment to them got returned to me. I'm waiting to hear back from the seller as to proper address. In the meantime, I thought if somebody local would buy them, I could pay the original seller, recover my botched shipping costs and still save the new buyer and the original seller another round of shipping. They are listed now for $30+$25 shipping (current cost=$252 at Trussville). $40 would put everybody even, if the original seller agrees. If you have fogs, it's a simple swap by taking the nose off the car (easy, but 2 person job). If you don't, I have the steering column stalk replacement to make work as well.
So, they are OEM, new, BLUE lens fogs for $40, if the original seller agrees. I'm not shipping after the rigamarole with the post office already. PM me if interested.

Just though id rant some more... got pulled today and got a ticket for my Tints. MY TINTS were suppose to be legal. I had them done at TNT tinting and i asked for VA legal. I showed the cop my receipt and he still wrote me a ticket and told me i have to go to court and he will drop it then. He also took my receipt but he told me i need to get the windows down to VA legal. How am i suppose to get my windows re done to legal without my proof of purchase in the first place...... BS.....

I had mine done @ TNT tinting as well and got it less than VA legal, they made me sign a waiver saying I wouldn't hold them responsible for tickets. Glad I wasn't on your side of the water. Anyway, here are some shots of my new rims while the car is still awaiting an engine behind Casey Mazda.

VERY NICE! Why are you getting your engine replaced? I've been hearing about engine replacements quite a bit lately.

I'm sorry Nick, that sucks! Welcome home BTW! And I'm upset because my car is at Hall for a week and I'm even out of town. I can't imagine not having my car for "who knows how long." Are you still going to the dragon?

If the tint is 35/50 on it's own, the mild factory tint would probably put the total over 35/50. At least I've assumed it worked that way. Still, the overage would be minimal. Did he have a meter to measure transmittance?
I wouldn't have let the guy walk with the receipt. I don't see that he has any cause to take it from you and I would complain to the department about that. I usually try to give the cops some leeway because they have a tough job, but crap like this is lame and they need to get called on it.
Also, the guys at TNT may have some notions on how to handle this. I'd call them first, not to assign blame, but get advice.

Wow are you serious!?!?!...Damn that sucks...Did you have your windows rolled up? My tints are illegal as hell and I've had cops pull up behind & beside me and no tickets yet but I usually roll my windows down and sunroof shade when cops are around.....

I got mine done @ TNT also and they made me sign that same waiver

I didn't sign any waiver. And they told me they don't keep any records because i called them and asked for a copy of my receipt and they said they don't keep records... So they couldn't prove that i signed anything anyway.

Do all 8's come with a mild factory tint?...Because I didn't think mine had anything on it.

The officer took the receipt because he said he is going to get a warrant and go after TNT for putting illegal tints on cars. I called him later that day to ask him to fax me a copy of the receipt so that I could go down to TNT to have my tints reduced and he said that they take the receipt because if they don't then the person (me) now has a free pass to have illegal tints on their car. He said if they take the receipt the person either has to get the tints removed or downgraded or face getting another ticket. But if they don't take it then they can just keep the receipt and never get it fixed....

So i hope he just does not try to pull any funny stuff in court and say that I never had a receipt. But i herd its a very inexpensive ticket anyway so im tempted to just pay it and be done... But if i do that he will still have my receipt and i need that back. (he told me he will give it back in court)

Well im not really pissed at the cop... He may very well just be doing his job like he is suppose to...And he told me he is going to have it dismissed. I was pissed with TNT for not doing what i asked them to do and causing me this problem. So hopefully it all gets sorted out.... But worst case scenario is i have to pay the ticket and its a minor fee so if that happens i would be pissed but id live. So its really not the big of a deal.....

From what I understand the Pungo run is @ 3pm, same place. I will be there if my car is done in time, fingers crossed it will. They have the new engine in and everything was checking out until they got a CEL on the test drive. Timing is off and will be fixed today or (god forbid) Tuesday!

All cars have a very light tint on the windows. Compare your windshield to clear glass. It's not much, but if it's say 5-10%, it would add onto the % of the applied tint sheet. I assume that when they sell you tint, the sheets are rated at the light they block on their own. If all that's true, then everybody who gets 35% fronts and 50% rears is really running a little bit over that. If it's measured as a negligible amount over, then you can argue that you made a good faith effort to comply with the law and therefore fines and charges should be dropped. You could even try to get a picture of yourself through the window to show how easily you can be seen through the tint. I doubt that TNT overtinted the car since it looks like the rest of ours.

Did he have a meter to measure it? I'm curious how he knew for sure the tint was off. Certainly if there's no measurement on his part, I'd argue that you have legal tint per the receipt until proven otherwise.

The whole receipt thing sounds bizarre to me. Most of don't have the papers in our car and how the hell does taking yours make any difference in the world unless he just has a grudge with TNT and wants evidence that they overtint.

I'll be at the drive today, BTW.

kinda short notice i know, but does anyone wanna meet up for a photoshoot today? i was thinking maybe at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. its $12 to get to the middle where we can do the pics and you can turn around and not have to pay the return toll. if you keep going and come back its $5 to come back through. i might be leaving Hampton to go there around 2:30.
