Good Service Departments in VA? Tidewater

I tried searching but couldn't find anything.

I bought my 8 from First Team in Chesapeake. Both their service department and the one over at Hall Mazda aren't as good as I would like them to be. They don't like to give out information very much. So I'm asking if anyone in the Hampton Roads area has found a really good Mazda Service Department. Thanks!

Here's a thread that hits on experience with the service around Tidewater. Basically, no standouts, but Casey doesn't look good. vIce^gRip had a bad experience with First Team and got much better treatment with Hall. He had to invoke the regional rep to get stuff straight. I got my car at First Team too, and it's going there for state inspection and 7500 mile check Friday. How that goes will determine where it goes for the upcoming recalls.

If you haven't, check the threads on the Trashmore meet in September and the Hampton Roads 8 Club meets (also hr8c.com).

I bought my car at hall. I brought it back because there was a chip in the b-piller. After they repainted it, I noticed the paint they used didn't match but instead of a little chip, now there was a big spot that was a different shade of black. I brought it back on monday and it still doesn't match. I think I'm going to just go ahead and get the b-piller trim and cover it up as I don't feel like going through this any more. I just risk getting overspray all over my car. They did make the appointment fast though. I called on friday and got in on monday. That's much better than when I call about my wife's volvo. It usually takes 2-3 weeks to get her car into phillips. I went into the parts department trying to get information on hardware to mount the accessory front air dam. They told me mazda didn't sell a hardware kit for it which is understandable. I already knew that all I need are 6 nuts to secure it to the bumper. When I asked him if there was any way they could research to find out what size nuts are used, I was pretty much told there was no way he could find out. He didn't come out and say it, but I got the impression he was just telling me I was screwed. I find that hard to believe considering the # of appearance packages they probably install on cars that he couldn't at least try and help by asking someone who's worked with them. If First Team isn't worth the drive, ( which is the impression I'm getting from this forum) then I'll do everything but the major stuff myself.

I thought the B-pillar trim was a vinyl applique. Wouldn't make much sense to paint that.

I can't believe they can't set you up for the nuts & bolts for the spoiler. First Team's website has email for the parts department, you might just ask them. http://mazda.firstteamauto.com/Department-Parts.aspx

Mike & Jon
For the record, my experience with 1st TEAM Service was a bunch of *** HOLES to be frank. I purchased my wife’s 2004 MPV ES (Top of the line loaded) from them and they were as great as could be SELLING it to us. Then I purchased my 8 from a dealer in GA. When I had them look at some TSB and warranty stuff they went into shell shock. The service manager, MARK, I think his name is... needs a good *** pounding UFC style. ARGH... I get a little agro thinking about him. Anyway I had to go to the DCSM as Pat stated to get work that MAZDA was happy to do done from another dealer cause Last Team are a bunch of biatches! (Do you see where I am going here? Psssst! good-luck Pat, I hope they don't leg screw you too.)
Carrie Miles is the GSM for HALL. They will do their best to do you a solid! Ask for her and she will make sure all is done within reason to make you right.
Alas, Hampton Roads does not have any OUTSTANDING ROTORY junkies or shops. Those are all in Northern VA. So you make do with what you have, and in our area HALL is it. CASEY is trouble from what the peninsula guys tell me, so I just take their word on that.
Jon those Pillars are usually polly or vinyl... not painted. For like $60 you can upgrade to a RX-8 Badged Pillar and be done with that issue as well as starting on your MODS!!!

Guys -

the only issue I've had with Hall Mazda are my oil changes - they over filled mine everytime until I told them not too and then it was about 1/4 short of being full. unfortunately, i can't change my oil where i live, so I have since (Friday) taken it to the local Shell gas station with oil and filter in hand.

Hall is getting my car tomorrow for some body flex noises - from sunroof and possibly front seat - and to have the A/C checked - on setting 3, after about 15 minutes, the cabin is still not cool and the air coming out seems like the thermostat is set about 1/2 way on the cold side.

also, i finally changed my air filter after 15,000 miles. getting that thing out of the compartment was a real treat. the air filter itself was pretty clean though.

,Jeremy
