Falls Church, VA RX-8

I've brought a black RX-8 MT with the sports package last week. It's the funnest car I've ever driven and should be broken in within the next few days.

So far I've only seen two other eights, one yellow and one red. Anyone else out there?

You'll see me commuting between Alexandria/Van Dorn Street and Herndon Parkway via I495 & toll road or darn near the entire Fairfax County Parkway (28 miles, 29 lights- mostly green:D) depending on which route I choose.

I pulled up next to a Titanium RX-8 last week on FCP at the Sunset Hills stoplight (Reston/Herndon). You were turning left/west while I was northbound. It was around 7:30AM.

Have also spotted two other RX-8s (yellow and black) on FCP between Spring Street and Sunset Hills in recent days.

Hey, I just realized most of you that have responded to this thread so far are fairly close to the start point for Saturday's scenic drive (May 22) to Skyline Drive. RX-8's and 350Z's cruising through the mountains. Great Fun!:D

The meeting point is Bob Evans Restaurant at I-66, Exit 60 North in Vienna. It's the first intersection after you leave the Interstate. Cars will be forming up behind the restaurant. Check out the complete details in this thread and sign up or let me know you are coming. We need more RX-8s to balance out the Zs!!

Unfortunately that's the day of HFStival. I'd go on the drive, but I'm going to be drunk in the sun all day watching bands. Can you blame me really?

Well, I have a green 8, but it is in the repair shop still so you won't see me around for a few weeks (and I'm gonna miss the skyline drive darn it!!!!).

I'm sure you posted it somewhere, but what's wrong that it's in the shop for weeks?

DJ F - I got smashed by a 4Runner. (Rear ended) Search for 4Runner and you will find a pic and the thread. So far we are up to $7500 for the repair and another 2 to 3 weeks.

Yeah, I know the feeling. One of my best friends had almost the same thing happen to him. He was DD'ing some friends home and the car in front of him came to a dead stop with no brake lights. He of course tried to stop, but ended up turning the Jetta he hit into a Golf. (www.carpanet.net/gallery/wreck but the site is rarely up) 3 months later his car came back to him with a lot of things still wrong. Luckily you got hit in the rear (don't read in to that...). Since he got into a collision that destroyed his front end there was a lot that they didn't pay attention to (the center console inside the car, both door panels, the coin tray, the cup holders, the stereo, the list goes on and on). I'm sure your car will come back in good shape. Now it just needs to come back in a timely fashion!

Each time I looked your way you were looking forward and rocking to the beat. I would have honked but no one else would have understood what the hell I was honking at. Best not to anger other drivers these days 'cause you don't know who's totin'. The folks in the vehicle behind me were messmerized by the sight of two RX-8s side by side.:D

It's part of the Shenandoah National Park with the northern entrance about 45 minutes to an hour drive West on I-66. You take lots of pictures! Skyline Drive is about 100 miles long and we cover about half of it. There are multiple scenic overlooks and laybys on Skyline Drive and we stopped at four or five of them as well as the Visitors Center. We had a late lunch at the Big Meadows restaurant.

You'll find more links about Skyline Drive and the scenic drive itself if you go to the event thread here in the NE Forum which I referenced and linked (click on this thread) in the previous post.

Hm. Maybe that wasn't me. I saw a silver (not titanium) one last week. And I definately always turn at Sunset hills. But I'm a pretty emotionless guy. I don't really rock ot the beat. I also noticed the silver 8 and tried to get their attention, but didn't have any success. And in fact I think I might have been turning at Fox Mill when I saw the silver 8. Hm. Oh well. It might forever be a mystery. I always look for 8's on the road, and I have yet to have one acknowledge me. Just for reference I have a Titanium one with nothing done. All stock. No wing, no wheels, no body kit. Just a sunroof. Sound like I was the one?

I'm occasionally on Sunset Hills. It may have been me...unless it was a guy driving. That's definitely not me! :D

I passed a silver 8 on 26th/31st Street in Arlington yesterday around 5 pm, but I was driving a rental car so I didn't honk or wave. Was that someone here?

Okay, realized this morning as I was driving the Fairfax County Parkway I got my street names mixed up. The RX-8 I pulled up to last week was in the left turn lane at Sunrise Valley on the FCP. And unless my eyesight is failing, it was not a woman driving.

Sounds like we could get a fair size Happy Hour meeting after work one day of folks/RX-8s that live or work around Herndon/Reston.

A Happy Hour would be fun.. Maybe the Carpool in Herndon would be an appropriate spot.
