Story:

I brought my RX-8 into the service shop at Congressional for brake work on the 14th. My car has ~2300 miles on it and I was experiencing a slight shudder when applying the brakes at highway speed. As I thought, the rotors were warped and had to be resurfaced. Luckily, with so few miles, the brakes are still covered under the warranty period. Anyways, I get the car back in the afternoon and immediately drive home. I pull into the garage and decide that I didn't like the brake dust on the wheels and the fingerprints in the brake dust and I proceed to wipe them down. I get to the front left wheel and notice something on the wheel. There is a chip in the paint and a good gouge about a square centimeter on my wheel!

It certainly wasn't there before since I had taken the time the day before to wash, wax and detail the car and never noticed it. I'm a bit upset but there's really nothing I can do. Anyways, I take a couple of pics of the wheel with my camera phone and decide to e-mail them to the service center. I never asked for compensation. The whole point of the e-mail was to show then the pictures and to ask them to advise their techs to be more careful in the future. I never even expected a call back.

To my surprise, they did call me back today. The service manager, Pat, was very nice and apologized but stated that the really wasn't a way for them to determine whether or not the damage was caused at the dealership. He said that he had spoken with the tech that worked on the car about the issue. I told him that I wasn't really expecting anything from this but just wanted them to be more careful. He did refer me to a wheel repair place that might be able to help me out. The call ended amicably.

I then get a call back not more than 5 minutes later. It's Pat from the dealership again. He tells me that if I do decide to get my wheel fixed and if the damage is from the service department, that he'd be willing to split the cost with me. This was far more than I had expected! I had already decided not to bother to get it fixed, it IS only about a square centimeter and didn't seem worth the trouble. I did, however, appreciate the gesture. Seems like a stand-up place and that they really do want to keep their customers.

I've always had a good experience there, I and my family have bought 4 cars from them over the years, and think highly of there service. In my years of dealing with them this has been the only hiccup.

If anyone is wondering, after all that rambling, this is a POSITIVE impression. I have always thought their work was good...though a little expensive at times. I don't have a problem with bringing my car to them again.

I always take my car to Congressional Mazda. So far very good experiences with them. I normally dont deal with Pat but with Allen instead since I know him. He gives me discounts on things hehe.

Same here. I brought my car in once to get the cracked defrost button fixed. They had to take off the head unit and detach everything. When i got the car back, I noticed that my radio wasn't working so I assumed they forgot to reconnect the antenna. I complained and said that I have to make time out of my work schedule again so they can reconnect it. They were very polite and apologized for the inconvenience. When i brought it back, i also asked if they can install the shock sensor that i purchased. after getting my car back with the install and the antenna reconnected, i asked how much it was for the shock sensor install. They said it was free of charge.. I was so grateful =)
