OH in the dayton area, need help troubleshooting my 2004 6spd rx8

hey guys, I see alot of you are from Ohio. I am having the painful misfire code in cylinder two. I have replaced plugs wires and coils. I have an aem cold air intake stainless midpipe (cat delete) and under drive pulleys. It feels like my car is hesitating about five thousand rpm. I have found oil in my intake which I have ordered a oil catch can today for that issue. I had a clicking noise which I thought was induced by my ssv . So I took it out and cleaned it off! I did not get the housing fully clean though so it feels its still clicking but real faintly. If anyone could meet up with me and help me solve this problem in having I would appreciate it. I'll provide beers and food lol. Here is my cell number. 937 3057507

Ya it sounds like my ssv is clicking . I just received a lower intake manifold. It came with a ssv and actuator
So I'm going to swap them out. If anyone could meet me anywhere in Ohio to help me diagnosis my car I would appreciate it.

For anything like that, I would check out Defined Autoworks in Pataskala. I don't know anyone personally in the Columbus area that can pull the engine and do a rebuild. They are they guys who did the 4 rotor RX-7.

OH Saying goodbye to my 8 ? or Saving it ?

I got my 8 towed to Byers Mazda due to a flashing CEL (misfire). I believe the ignition coils failed. The engine is a low on compression but worked fine until last week.

They want me to swap out the engine (9000$ approx ) and cant fix the car otherwise. Should I tow it to another dealer/shop ? I can spend about 1000$ to try to fix the car or sell the car .

Any inputs from fellow columbus owners is appreciated.
It is my only car and paying for tows everywhere gets very expensive in a hurry.

I am open to offers for the car, please pm me if you are interested. I have posted a thread on the new members forum as well.

I've been taking my 04 there for years ever since I bought it from them and they're great people. I've only had one problem with them and after speaking with the big shot (the one in the commercials) it was solved quickly.
They replaced my engine just before the warranty expired in days. I trust them completely. They won't gouge you.
I'll give you $500 lol

That happenen to me way back. Coils are expensive but relatively cheap. But my engine blew up about 6 months later

I have a set of ignition coils from my 2010 Rx8 R3. They had 38k miles on them
When I took them out. They don't have the white spots on the bottom yet and we're
Working when I took them out. But I have no idea on the life left in them as there
Is no way to check. Sell them to you for $25.

As far as the low compression. There is no cheap fix even if you do a rebuild
Yourself. The new seals and gaskets are going to cost you 1k let alone you'll
Probably need new housings. Or if lucky find low mileage used ones

A car in excellent running and physical condition is only worth $4500 to any dealer maybe less if the dealer will take a rotary on trade. Most dealers in Columbus area even a Mazda dealer will not even take them.

Thanks for the responses.

Thanks everyone for the replies.
I have put the car for sale, it is posted in the NE FS sub forum.

The dealer is obviously offering nothing for the car as a trade in.
If any of you enthusiasts are interested in it pm me.

It will be perfect as a project/replacement car or a car you can gut for parts.

Anyone still out in the Columbus area? See a few cars here and there, but not much activity here.
