Yeah, big stink about this several years ago. I've gotten two speeding tickets since then and the most expensive one was $180.

Virginia is the most uptight state out of the whole united states. I'm flabbergasted at how corrupt people can be, slipping **** like this into a larger bill and making a revenue off of drivers.

Dudes.

This isn't in effect anymore, hasn't been for quite a while. I believe it was declared unconstitutional or something or other because it was only imposed on drivers of VA and didn't apply to out of state drivers.

I got one of those tickets. $1500!. The worst part, I wasn't even in my 8. I had the wife's suv and was 20 miles over a 40 speed limit. Apparently, I had driven into one of those classic speed traps where the speed limit dropped 15. However, I went to court and the country judge was cool. He said, "you ain't from around here are you boy?" I said "no sir, I'm from Maryland and was just going home from the beach and decided to take the scenic route." He then said, "you aren't coming back, either?" " No sir". He knocked it down to $120 and sent me on my way.

Since then, I avoid that state where possible. I spend my vacation money elsewhere.

Wish that I could do the same, but VIR and Summit Point are either in Old Virginny, or you spend a lot of time passing through it to get there. Here I thought dealing with the Democratic People's Republic of Maryland was bad enough...

Yes these are only for VA residents or VA licence holders?? one or the other.

Frosty is right, this was found unconstitutional and it only lasted a short time.

Luckily someone in this Communist Commonwealth of Virginia had a brain stem and got this dismissed.
