The 8 is officially in the garage. I haven't cleaned her up yet and will probably wait a week to take her off the insurance but she's no longer my daily driver.

At least I get to take her out in January. Confirmed that I got a place at Sebring and I'm definitely getting a truck that can tow the 8 down and back.

Oh and I broke plenty of speed limits and other driving rules on Thursday before putting her away on Friday so at least she went out with good memories.

Tony and Ryan, don't know if you caught the competition thread, but RX8 being moved from STU to STX for next year. 2wd cars are also allowed 265 tires in STX for '09. Or at least a choice. It seems a little confusing at this point.

No, I got a touch of the flu... that's what happened. Want to come down tomorrow night? I haven't checked to make sure I have my wheel lock socket... if I lost it I may be in trouble.

Regardless of that, the summer rubber compound is becoming very ineffective with these morning temps in the 30s. So I may have to swap the snows and brakes at different times. Sadly, I am probably out of town this weekend, though I hear it will warm up again so perhaps I can leg it out until the weekend of the 22nd.

I say that reluctantly because of how fresh in my memory the feeling of a rear end that wants to come up and say hello and have a cup of tea.

The cold weather has come along with about a half dozen rattles also. Passenger side window controls, center bose speaker, and the most annoying and blame that falls squarely on my shoulders, the heat shield over the cat/midpipe.

I hope sushi was tasty. I am upset I didn't get to go. But... I think considering how I was feeling, you all should thank me for not showing up... which I'm sure you do anyway when I'm not around.

 

sorry guys, i got hammered with the flu friday as well. started feeling like crap about 3 and yacked while walking to my car after work. Got home and crashed out until sunday.

 

I'm off tomorrow so I might be able to make it down. Gotta continue my shopping experience for a good chunk of the day. Pretty sure I'm down to two Exploders as my only options. Which kinda sucks because I would have liked something a little different but getting something under 12k that can be daily driven in the winter and tow 5k+ safely is actually a lot harder than it sounds.

I might have heated seats though. That itself would be a HUGE upgrade.

 

I don't know if they still have it or if it meets your towing requirement but Mazda of Bedford had a Brovada for 2K. Needed pass front CV joint though. Im pretty sure it is the same platform as the exploder so it should handle your towing requirement...I think.
