Yeah, Ryan. Will that lift be working.............................

The lift is a joke Steve. Ryan wanted to buy a lift, but said he didn't have a garage. I volunteered to let him "store" it in mine. It's all just wishful thinking.

I doubt it. I can bring a bottle if you want to spray it down and then try to work on it the next day (usually good to let it sit overnight tho an hour or so might be enough).

You could always take it to any garage with a lift and just ask them to raise it, loosen the bolts, retorque, and give it back to you. Most places would probably do that for $20 or so (1/2 hour rate).

And I don't know what Mark's talking about. I ordered that lift from Taiwan 2 months ago. I'm sure it's just stuck in customs...

The life is a joke???? WTF! I thought you guys were serious!
I'm thinking to myself "Whoa, these guys take this crap pretty seriously!"

Now I'm going to be the one that has to buy a lift. . . jerks. I'll post pics when I find it.

...Maybe I'll just take it in down here and have some place loosen the bolts for me like that...

I hate you guys.

Heh. That's pretty funny. If you search back in the thread a month or two I posted a link to one...

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ft#post2541760

...but customs is wicked slow.

If you can find a shop that will do it for you I imagine it wouldn't be much more but I know some shops won't install exhaust components that make the car illegal. I'd just call around or swing by a shop you drive past with an open lift. Assuming the PB doesn't cut it. Jon might have more tips as well. Not sure if he's going on Friday but he's done it at least a few times on his 8.

You will also notice that back then I said my mechanic does have a lift in his garage/barn...which was not a joke. I really do have a cool mechanic. :P He just refuses to touch rotary engines.

As for spraying the PB Blaster...prolly not a good idea to do that and then drive home. Call me stupid but who knows what that heat might do. We really don't need an RX8 going down 77 with flames shooting out of more than the exhaust tip.

Ryan...any word on the pads?

Doc...you have an idea of how much meat you want me to pick up at the Slaughterhouse?

It's fine. You're only spraying it on the nuts/bolts and not in anything. Besides it's likely less flamable than some of the crap that sprays up from the road.

It's basically WD40 but better at breaking down the crap between nuts/bolts that keeps you from being able to loosen them.

Nothing. My cobalt pads showed up yesterday but nada on the Hawks. I did get billed for them tho so I got that going for me, which is nice...

I'll be sure to grab my <20k OEMs when I pick up my wheels tonight.

I have OEMs that are just fine. They had just hazed up last time near the end because of me not breaking properly. To avoid it I was going with different pads. So no point in bringing the OEMs just for me.

You used brake cleaning stuff for that rotor? Wouldn't have seen that one coming. What'd you end up doing with the rotor?

Wheels did NOT get put on last night. Couldn't get the trailer. Sigh. Maybe next Monday or Tuesday. Unless someone is ordering a tire mounting machine to go with the lift...

Rotor is still chillin in my trunk. I got most of the carbon off...just have a little bit left. I haven't decided if I am going to paint or powder coat it. Once that is done I am going to try and get autographs on it from all the drivers from all the teams. Either at the Rolex race next year or if Marlon doesn't mind I may end up trying to hook up with him and seeing if he can get it to the teams.

What did you need the trailor for?

The guy I know works for Mickey Thompson Tires. They have a trailer with a tire mounting machine. We were going to use that but it's off at events for the next couple weeks.

To say the least I'm pretty ticked. If I was going to have to pay for this I woulda done it a month ago. Oh well.

There's room in the garage for a tire mounting machine too, you know.

Random question and I may have asked on here before. . .

Has anyone ever hooker up their own line out converter for rear subwoofers?
John: I know you have subs for sale, did you do your own work or otherwise know how to do it?

The forum here gives conflicting information about where to tap into the rear speaker signals (pre or post Bose amp)
Also, some say there is an amp remote-on in the speaker wiring harness also. However, most use the cigarette lighting for their remote-on, which I would not like to do.

In any case. Hope to see you all tomorrow so you can make fun of me for this lift nonsense.

The subs I had in my Stealth I had wired up by Rolling Sounds incorrectly. I had to go back and rewire it myself because they are ******* idiots. But I had an aftermarket radio in there so I didn't have to worry about LOC stuff. There was someone local that did install his own LOC...his login name was ThePaper. If I see him on AIM I will ask him for you.

As for using the speaker harness for the remote you don't want to do that. There is a problem with it not actually shutting off your amp. Just hook it up to your rear cig adapter...or if you can find the harness info for the Bose amp...it should have one in there.

Thats what I would be looking for: In the speaker harness bundle of wires from head unit to the amp there should be a remote-on for the bose amp.
I am looking to use that same wire for my remote-on for the Sub amp.

The amp I have does have an auto-on with a signal from the inputs. . . but I don't trust that voodoo...

Speaking of Voodoo, found a used voodoo shift **** on ebay. Pearl, but so far I like it. Ahh, one mod that I was able installed without any problems.

Yea the auto on stuff doesn't work. There is something in the AV forum about how the speakers vibrate when your door shuts turning the amp on and then it gets worse from there. You have to use a remote on and off for our cars. To find out which one is the on off take a volt meter to each wire in the harness with the car on and off and you can find out which one is switched. Shouldn't take long at all to figure it out.

Doc...I should have one around here somewhere. I'll bring one tomorrow.

As for tomorrow...what kind of meat do I need to get. I plan on picking up hotdogs and hamburgers...anyone have any special requests? Steak? Chops?

I have an extra that came with my new comp - it's a p.o.s. but you're welcome to it. If you like I'll bring it tomorrow.

Btw, is the bbq rain or shine? I heard a weather report this morning that talked about serious wrath of god type rain.
