John I think the guy emailed me this morning. I emailed him back. We'll see where it goes but I appreciate you spreading the word. This is the guy who wants it as a 'winter beater' tho, right? Hysterical.

I emailed the guy who was buying it last week and he said his dad was just securing the loan. Hasn't gotten back to me. I'm betting the dad decided the insurance was too high or it was too big of a PITA (the dad's brother has an RX8 and I gues the kids wanted one but the Dad would be buying it and putting it under his name for insurance). Still might get back to me this week.

Anyway I think I'm gonna be in for the 13th at Outback regardless of whether I have the car. Oh and that wasn't my cougar or my car that was sighted. If I'm getting a cougar she sure as hell better drive something more expensive than an RX-8.

A 700 WHP Miata (!) isn't there a kit around called a Banshee or something like that to squeeze a LS1 into a Miata? Yikes can you imagine the first time he takes that thing out onto I-90 'unsupervised' by dad. Get yer police scanners out it will be an exciting night!

We were talking about that over on the c6c and I believe Brian said that the LS1 install is only good for like 300-400 WHP. I have no idea how this kid thinks he is going to get up to 700 WHP in a car that small. Even if you could...why would you want to...you would think that aero would start to be a problem. He races SCCA and NORA so we shall see what he comes up with at some point I guess.

 

Made it home on the summer tires tonight at or BELOW the posted speed limit. Thankfully it was dark because I was getting passed by everything! Anyway the nasty Firestone snow tires are going on tomorrow morning........

That silver one I saw after the election is for sale. I drove by it again today. Price on the window said 10,900 and it had a different front bumper on it. That's all I could tell from driving by it at 45mph.

 

Awww 60 on Saturday?! I'm going to look at the 5 day outlook again. I don't want to keep doing wheel changes every other day....Ill just keep em on. It is a really smoooooottthhhh ride with 17" rims and 55 profile soft rubber

 

There are several kits to put a v8 (ford or chevy) into a miata, but still, 700hp seems like a stretch for anything less than a straight drag car. Its a distant dream of mine to have a v8 miata for AX, as I cannot afford to damage my 8. I guess the 5.0 Miata only adds approx 200lbs to the curbwt. Not too bad, plus you have a unique freak car that is all go and no show (if you use the 91-95 models like they suggest). If I knew anything about cars, this would be my long term hobby.

Last month a dude from FL was selling his V12 miata. It had a custom Jaguar engine in it. Youtube it. Its awesome.

 

Even if you through a stock Corvette engine in a Miata you are still looking at only 500 WHP. Where you would cram another 200 WHP out of that engine I have no idea.

 

LOL.....maybe a blower? With the gas tank size on a MX5 and blown V8 you could drive it from Shell station to Shell station......
