by other side do you mean the roof of the car? Cause there is definitely a cone ripping the crap out of my under tray in this picture also.

I'm curious if anyone would potentially be interested in storing their non winter vehicles there. You would have access to work on the cars through the winter and have some tools available to you as I'll build on the tools I already have. There is a possibility of getting a lift also, maybe in the spring.

The property is located in Massillon, so its a hike for some of you, but I figured I would throw that out there to see if there is any interest.
YES,YES YES. I'm currently searching for a place to store the 09. Let me know!!!!

Nearly everyone took the line that you and doc talked about and removed the extra cone from the slalom. However...Megan and ermmm....damn I can't remember his name that drove the FSP car...they took my line and said it was actually quicker to go that way because of not slowing down to enter the slalom and being setup properly for the turn at the top of the hill.

I went to the left and right.

The right I was quicker. But both sides I was bouncing off the rev limiter cresting the hill.

PS: His name is Jay.

PPS: If you can pick out lines, you should come out and race.

PPPS: Dont' give me guff about not fitting in the car. :P

PPPPS: Replacing the seat is legal for STX. Get the doner's seat, modify it to sit lower, and use that for autocrossing. That way Steve can have someone to play with in STX next year.

I went to the left run 1+3... got a 43.5... not fastest, but not awful. well, my fasted time of the day. Nearly good enough to best megan, even on the generals!

Went to the right run 2+4. Almost hit a pole.. Right=Fail for Steve.

I don't see how starting right and exiting on the right closer to the inside of the turn set you for the line for the back (west) side of the course... if you gave up all your speed out of the slalom, you could have made that a straight... that was the line I didn't see cause I didn't even consider giving up that much speed at the end of the slalom.

I can modify the seat out of the doner... those mounting brackets looks easy to trim. Make you fit... then you race. Everybody wins! . . . except you... you lose to me!

(I lose to everyone else)

I said Right would be faster because of the corner setup and not being able to take full advantage of that straight away like the guy in the EVO could...Doc said left would be faster because of the straightaway at the top of the hill even though we have no trq. *shrug* 6 of one half dozen of another

Sounds good John, we'll work something out here over the winter.

WHoooaaa. Doc did NOT say left faster. Doc went RIGHT. The slalom was very long and open. The extra speed at the entry made that much more speed on the exit. Has nothing to do with the lines at the end of the slalom. You had to give up the speed at the end regardless.

I think we talked about this walking. That might be where the left idea came from. But I discussed this with Ki So prior to running and he said feel where the car wanted to go. After he went on a run, he said right. I agreed. Never went left

The issue was the turn at the top of the hill. You needed to line up properly exiting the slalom and brake early. Many people didn't read the line well. I read it well. But then I got faster in the slalom and didn't compensate my braking for the increased speed.

this is a classic error as someone does a part better=faster and fails to recognize it and compensate at the next turn. If you come into the next turn faster than the previous run, then you need to brake earlier/harder. That's why I keep peaking times early in my runs. I keep forgetting to adjust for my better speeds.

My thought was that if you exited the slalom right and put in another cone to the left it would be just like continuing the slalom. However...I do agree with Doc that until you drive you really can't say much. I could be totally off and really wouldn't be surprised if I was.

You are correct in that analysis. EXCEPT! The real analysis is where do you give up speed, what is the shortest line, and what is the "lay of the land". Because the ground was sloping away from you, trying to turn left was "going against the grain." So even though you were right in one aspect of the analysis, (good job), you had to fight too much. If the cones had been closer together, you would have had to go slower. BUT they were wide apart. I was going almost full acceleration through them. At the end of the straight from the slalom, I was going 68mph. (pretty fast for a parking lot, huh!)

Regardless, I don't think the cone entry was where most people lost, including me. The lines through the top of the turn were the most important. I knew that, I read it that way. And I STILL screwed it up. Like I said, When you hit that turn at 68 mph (actual speed from my GPS), you have to brake earlier than when you hit it at 55mph. Note to self: Got - to - remember -this- doh!

This is sort of what happened to me... I "exceeded the capability of my tires" by not braking early.

I was at the rev limiter in 2nd at the exit of the slalom and tried to get the car back to the left to set-up the next right hand turn... i went back left but didn't start braking until way too late then, while braking going 60ish mpg i tried to start my right turn. . . good bye rear-end, hello conewall and light pole.

Looking at the pics, it doesn't look like anyone really braked early enough though. I'm upset because I didn't even see that line as possible.

Right...I guess it's just me not expressing myself the best I can. In watching that session everyone messed up at the top of the hill and that long left through the middle of the parking lot. I think the best line I saw out of everyone one of the slowest cars out there. Instead of coming in tight on the one cone they were staying wide of that cone and coming tight to the next cone and making it a double apex turn. Everyone in the second session that I saw, sorry missed you guys because of a tree, that stayed tight to the first cone seemed to overdrive the corner and not brake early enough to make the corner like they had hoped.

I'm pretty sure you exceed the capability of those tires anytime you go over 30mph.
