Bummer. Borla exhaust hasn't made it to the RX7 Store so I won't be travelling to C-Bus to have it (and my intake) installed tomorrow. Maybe next week. Woulda been a great day to take off work.

Guess I'll be there tomorrow around 6.

Yup. I had to cancel my order from the schmucks at MazdaParts and go with RX8strakes but I got those in the mail yesterday. I got my puddle lights last weekend too. Both will go on Saturday or Sunday.

Sounds like a project for tomorrow. :P I always wondered what a puddle light looked like in person.

Sorry to hear that MazdaParts didn't come through for you. I won't let you down like that. ShortShifter will be in hand tomorrow. :P

Just checking in.

I'm still alive, and no I haven't fallen off the roof.......yet. I finished all of the difficult tear-off today. Clean up and shingling are on the ticket for tomorrow. It's not gonna be fun in the 90 degree temps. Oh well....it's got to get done.

I really like the AEM CAI I bought from Jon. While some people say the sound is too loud, I think it's perfect for me. At idle it's the same as stock, and this doesn't change much during normal driving. It really speaks up during...umm.. ..well....'spirited' driving, though, and I think it sounds great. Thanks again for the sale, Jon.

I'm really going to try hard to make it down to the Boneyard tomorrow night. I must finish up my shingling though. How late are you all planning on staying? I may not be able to get there at 7, but I could possibly show up later.

Tony- Good to hear that the install went well and that you like it. Did you remember to plug the nipple on the intake manifold?
I'm assuming so because you would notice the engine hesitate while doing your "spirited" driving (and I'm sure I would have gotten another phone call)

If Tony comes, that will make 10 "officially" coming to the Boneyard tomorrow... should be a good turnout.
Not to mention that the weather is going to be nice (which doesn't seem to happen with us).

Anyone going to the Pinks' All Out at Summit Motorsports this Saturday?
I've been waiting for them to come to Ohio, and they picked a day I have to be at a wedding.
Of course, if I would have known about this sooner (and already purchased the tickets), it would have been a good excuse not to go to the wedding (I know... that's so wrong).

I've never had the chance to play with the Cobb Accessport yet, but you might want to PM MazdaManiac and ask him to help.
Did you purchase it through Cobb or did you buy MazdaManiac's?

I bought it from Mazdamaniac. I'm not going to flame the guy, yet. But here's the bottom line of his reply:

"As I'm sure you understand, my listed purchase agreement on my site
specifically indicates that all sales are final with no refunds and no
returns. Furthermore, since you took delivery of the item via UPS, you will
not be able to successfully complete a charge-back through your credit card
and PayPal as charge-backs are a remedy for undelivered goods.
However, the AccessPORT does carry a full warranty directly from Cobb
Tuning."

In all fairness, he is corresponding, but this situation SUCKS. I specifically bought from him because I assumed he knew more about 8s. Now I'm stuck. Hopefully we can resolve this.

PINKS is a show on SpeedTV where people drag race for "pink slips".
PINKS ALL OUT is where anyone can come to the track, the whole day they will run everyone for time trials, pick a group based on their trial runs (ex: 10.20sec class) and narrow it down to 16 cars. Then those cars race tournament style until there is only one. And during these runs they are betting money (that they earned by winning) and winning keeps the "pot" earnings.

Here is the link to Pinks' website: http://www.speedtv.com/programs/pinks/

Well Doc... did you ask him for help or did you ask for a refund.
I can't see Jeff selling you this and not offering to help you if you can't get it working!
And I wouldn't say that you're stuck with it... if you don't want it, I'm sure we can work out a deal

All I want is a functioning unit. However, he just refers me to Cobb.

I don't know where this is going, but it's causing stress.

Just a thought, but this would take you out of BS and put you back into STU. Or are you planning on using this on the other 8? I'm interested in seeing how well it performs.

No, doesn't take me out of BS. I'm trying to get back to the factory settings from the settings with the other air intake.

BTW, Why are you in STU instead of BSP?

Dunno if you read the thread on Stephen from Seoul or not but that might shed light on why he's overly careful about dealing with refunds/etc.

Is the thing just not starting up? Or is it running but just not running properly? If it's the former then definitely contact Cobb. If it's the latter then you might want to post the issue specifically in the EMS forum. Just note that you received the Cobb port, it's having 'X' problem, and has anyone else experienced that.

And regardless you can bring it out tonight and everyone can stare at it and throw around ideas on how to fix it that are bound to fail.

Sorry gents, something else came up and I won't be able to make it tonight. Family obligations.

On a side note if anyone is interested, I have a complete set of Powerslot brake rotors (front and rear) and Hawk performance brake pads (front and rear set) for sale still new in box. Your 8 must have the sport suspension package (I believe your rotors need to be 12"). PM if you'd like more details.

Tip back a few pitchers for me!

Doc- What was used before to flash the PCM?
Before the Accessport came out, there wasn't much out there for the 8.
One was Racing Beat, but you had to send the whole PCM unit to them and they only had one map designed for NA cars.
The others were piggy-back systems!
Worse comes to worse, if you haven't received the new MSP16 reflash, take this TSB to the dealer and have them reflash the PCM:

Sitting here thinking (which is always bad for me), I'm starting to think that you just want to reset the PCM (which you don't need the Accessport to do).
If this is the case, just reset the NVRAM and KAM!

PCM has NVRAM (Non-Volatile Random Access Memory) and KAM (Keep Alive Memory).
NVRAM keeps engine data or running behavior depends on owners driving style, like fuel trims and fault codes.
KAM stores sensor profiles and MIL codes.

When your car is running rich on air-fuel ratio, changes pulleys or misfire, NVRAM will store fault codes.
To reset NVRAM:
1. Unplug battery (pull out negative cable) for 5 minutes. Then plug it back.
2. Turn your key to ON but don't crank start, press brake pedal in quick succession until the oil press needle travels to middle point and back again.
3. When you do crank start the car, move the steering wheel to the left (fully) and right (to clear the DTC).

KAM reset calibrates sensors.
To reset KAM:
1. Plug in the key in the off position, press and hold the odometer reset button then turn the key to on.
2. Continue to hold the odo button until the odometer reads "TEST" and then release.

WOW Jon.

You gotta stop thinking so much

I think we have the Accessport figured out. There's a typo in the instructions and the flash memory was old. They had to update it. Very frustrating.

I'll see if it works when I get home.

The problem is, buying the car used, and it having been modified. it's hard to tell what has or hasn't been done to it.

So at this point I chose to buy the AP and maximize the profiles. This also gives me the ability to change it in the future should I choose to put the AEM intake back on.

Hopefully, I have my problem solved and can work with it before tonight's meeting.

If not, I'll just drink more beer.................

Yeah... the wife sometimes yells at me for being on the site too much

Good to hear that you figured it out.
I'll have to say Doc... I'm extremely jealous that you have an AP.
I might have to find a way to convince you to let me borrow it and do some street tuning/reflashing

Doesn't it have to stay on to maintain any tuning? I thought that was the one downside of the Cobb AP. Or are you just talking about using it tuned on track days when Doc isn't running at the same time as you?

Its obvious that Doc now has the AP down pat so I nominate him to become the Cleveland version of MM and start tuning all of our cars.

Today is completely not the day to be inside a cube with a full window view of the 90 degree weather...
