Ryan, I'm looking at running with the Porsche Club down at MidOhio in Aug. Have you heard anything about them? Machiavelli, are you interested in going?

Nice group overall and their cars play well with ours.

Also, I'm planning on being at the Outback this friday, so add me to the list!
My Blackberry totally does not like this website.
Technically, we don't know that for sure. I've never raced on a proper track. . . meh, who am I kidding, that's a zinger right there.
Don't encourage him to buy a crappy pipe at a crappy price.
Doc - were you talking about the October event or an event this August? NORPCA isn't doing anything in August. That's probably a different Porsche group.

It looks like Mid-Ohio Region PCA is running the one in August. I imagine they overlap a lot but I haven't actually run with that club.
The October NORPCA event is the one I attended last year and both Ed's have been organizing these things for a while. I think they both frequent the NORA site as well.

I get a little nervous when they push you offline and pass in the turns. I see visions of paint scraping.
I know Optical TDI is trying for the same thing. NASA is pretty hardline about letting you go. I know of at least 2 people who have just gone on to group 3 without ever getting signed off. That's kinda scary if they cause an accident out there. They'll get eaten alive because the group didn't progress them.
It's always dicey but if you're talking about snow that doesn't really come until the end of October tho freak events happen. April is a worse bet for rain than October and cold air is actually good for racing. Keeps the cars cool and happy.
NASA is fine if you want a fasttrack towards racing but if you're just looking to spend quality time on the track with good people and good instructors, without a lot of cars or pressure, then stick with club events. You almost always end up getting more fun and experience for less money.
Keep in mind that most of the people on the track in the intermediate groups know most of the people on the track with them by their cars so going offline, passing, etc. are all done with a full awareness that the person is someone you might see at a bar at the next meet.
Tends to make everything run a little smoother.

Hmm TJ, that doesn't sound at all like what we talked about at the headlands... lol.
Like Ryan and I said... step 1. What are you going to use the car for?
A) Daily Driving + Autocross
B) Daily Driving + Show car
C) Daily Driving only.
From there, you can identify what mods you would like to make:
Catless Midpipe:
Pros: Daily Driving - Better MPG
Cons: Daily Driving: Loud, smelly, cops don't like flames, illegal.
Pros: AutoCross - lighter than stock cat, more power!
Cons: B Street prepared class... = uncompetitive.
Pros: Show car - popping flames, being loud
Cons: Show car - un-catted exhaust on a black car will dull the finish on your bumper.
True, I seen it on the back of mine!
Now... I'm not saying you have to make that list for every single mod you do, but it helps keep you focused. Helped me a lot when I was buying stereo upgrades and cosmetic crap when I really didn't think I wanted a "show car" and a daily driver because its stupid to try to keep a daily driver in show condition.

and i have taken all that into consideration and i still want the d/r AP one. i think out of my choices it will best give me what i want, i dont like the "near stock" sound of the mazsport and Racing Beat but i also dont like the unbearably loud and too rattly pipes like exoticspeed and other non resonated pipes. so i think agency power will be a nice middle groun and give me a bit higher decibel level in exhaust without too much rattle/ricey tone to it. i know i'd be niave to expect no ricey tone with any pipe but the mazsport/racing beat due to the rotaries unique sound, but when it comes down to it i am still an 18 year old who hasnt outgrown the "i need a really loud pipe" phase of his life just yet and im willing to give up the really nice sounding pipe to get it

haha well thanks jon, at least theres one person on the forum who can stand me
i just hope that the AP pipe will be the middle ground im looking for, because i am afraid that due to it being dual resonated it will be too quiet and not worth the "mildly" crappy tone it will produce. cuz i really did like how loud steves pipe was on my car
but it doesnt mean i liked the noise that came along with it though.

hah well thats good and bad because from videos ive seen i know its loud i just hope the trade off of being loud and raspy is even so its not like overly raspy and not as loud as i'd hoped. i still like the turboxs complete exhaust the best so far though. but i've heard that its not compatible with the stock pipes because there too small so i wouldnt be able to interchange my cat for e-checks. anyone know if thats true?

Well, it sounds like you know what you want and found a product out there that offers it. Not to mention is around half the cost of the other pipes.
I'll be anxious to hear it. Make sure you get a gasket set with it when you order. I don't think you need new bolts and hardware. But... if you want to prevent some head aches later: replace your midpipe bolts, front and rear with stainless nuts+bolts... for 5 bucks in hardware its worth it.
I want to hear the AP dual rez with an after-market catback. (cough cough - Brian)
I bet it'll sound pretty good - different. It'll have a higher pitch and may get a touch of rasp at the top end... but we'll see.

I'm working on it.
Hopefully soon. The one I want though isn't very common, and the only vendor that sells them has a less than stellar reputation for shipping things in a timely fashion. I'm not about to drop almost a grand on something that I won't see for months on end.
Jon + John: I don't know if this matters for the video or not... probably not, but there is a 30% chance of rain + thunderstorms friday.
In other, more comical news... after driving the motorcycle or the Bronco for 3 weeks, I forgot to put my car into gear when I parked and didn't set the parking brake hard enough. My car sat on a slight incline for at least 20 minutes (because I was running around doing stuff) before it slowly rolled into the street.
No harm done or anything, just more proof that I am an idiot.
