So I was talking to Steve about my exhaust this afternoon. Jon...Im thinking that my exhaust needs to slide back from the extension. Im thinking that the exhaust is too far into the car which is causing my shrouds to melt on top along with touch on the bottom. What do you think?

I find this extremely ironic since you selected the AP in part because it keeps the tips from extending out too far. But that'll be good if it's as easy as just sliding it back a little. Finding a way to extend the tips will definitely help.

Hmmm... Maybe Karmic is a better word than ironic. Dontchathink?

Im talkin like half an inch here. Even the guys in Indy said that you couldn't tell I had tips if you looked at my car from behind.

The problem with sliding the muffler pipe towards the front are the four grommets in the back.
They are the ones holding the pipe at its height and won't just "allow" the pipe to lower.
Sliding the pipe forward might (if I'm thinking about this right.... just woke up) cause the tips to rise up.
Then again, its only two bolts holding that clamp on so it wouldn't be too difficult to try it and see what happens.

Need to slide it back...not forward. I think the heat is getting trapped under the shroud and melting it and if I move it back there should be a little more vacuum to pull it out.

All we can do is try.
Or you can grab a socket and wrench, loosen the two bolts and slide it yourself.
You can probably do it without jacking the car up

Jon - did you see this?

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...93#post2984293

It's too much for me to get but if you get it I'd be happy to throw $50 your way for a test. I'm sure a few other guys would do the same.[/quote]

hey if you guys are serious about throwing down on that then ill put in 50 bucks or so. sounds like it could be worth it with everything that goes wrong on my car. just let me know

Normally I don't post such nonsense as in "seen you" BUT.

Yesterday I saw more unfamilar 8s than I ever have.

First - '09 BB Driving North on 77 by the Akron Canton Airport. Had a Kent Mazda (or Kent someone) license plate frame, so it is a local. His exhaust tips were so small.

Then, in North Canton about 2 blocks from my house, saw another BB pre'09. Looked pretty good too, but the vanity plate was "2 SHO" So given that I wanted to ram him.

Then saw a decent VR by belden Village mall. Didn't get a good look at it, but still, 3 8s in the span of about 3 hours...

Steve, I tossed your sticker in the car. Remind me it's in there later tonight. Also, I have an extra one if anyone want's it.

It's a black "Zoom Freakin' Zoom" windshield banner. You'll be able to see it on my car tonight.

I'm in with one child.

I also have a blacK sticker I did not use, if anyone is interested.

Tom and I will be changing brake stuff at my house tomorrow if anyone wants to come by and tell us we're doing it wrong. Around 11.

I'm probably not gonna get there till like 6:30 just because I'm coming straight from work so that will add about 20-25 extra minutes to my travel. Plus I may stop and hose the car off real quick if the weather clears up enought.

But I'll be there by 6:30 at the latest.

I'm in. I didn't call the BY in advance. Normally it's not a problem but Cavs game plus the nice weather we might have to park pretty far away for a group shot.

Picture planned for 7 PM or whenever John gets there. I might bail after that to go elsewhere to watch the Cavs. Or I might not.

Oh and I forgot to grab your pads when I left, Steve. I'll figure out a way to get 'em to you when you need them.

Sorry...was sleeping. Yup...I'll be there about 6. I know that Tim is coming straight from New York and can't respond. Also Michelle doesn't come on the forums but last I heard she was coming.
