The jig is used to prevent the flywheel from spinning while you're removing the locknut.
Thanks for playing!

i would have totally gotten that if i was on here.

Well, I'm back Sunday night, I'm sure you all missed me and have a pool going to see if my car flooded or not.

In the car side of things on my trip: Got to see a few euro spec rx8s. one black on the autobahn for awhile, an R8 passed us, but we wouldn't catch up (honestly, couldn't catch it) and saw a goofy right hand drive 8 in Dublin.

Jon - we still on for this weekend?

Well as of today the turbo and manifold is mounted and everything that I possibly need to pull out had been pulled out. Pics will be coming... soonish

Nice. And of course you'll have pics because without them it never happened.

Alright, made it back fine. I know you were all worried. Anyway, car didn't start up fine... Didn't start on first crank, so I was afraid of flooding, so I did the gas all the way down trick to try to clear any gas that was still in there. Then had to do a solid crank for probably about 15 seconds and it miss fired a bit, but ran fine after that. So, yeah, I don't think my car like to sit for any amount of time.

So Dana is putting a turbo on? I read you had the greddy kit? How is that working out so far? Any major problems? And I guess there are a few people on here now that I don't know... oh well, glad to be back.

Welcome back Steve...glad you had a good trip. From how you describe your problem it is hard to tell if you were flooded or just had a dieing battery. How old is your battery?

Battery is a new yellow top bought in Feb. I disconnected it before I left. It was not weak cranking at all. I just think fuel must just drip from the injectors or something silly. I think it was just messing with me. Ran fine this morning on my way to work.

I'm curious if Danc is installing the Greddy upgrade or just the basic kit and what EMS he is using.
I know of at least one guy locally who installed a Greddy turbo on his 8 and blew his engine within a month.
So be careful if you didn't get the upgraded kit and don't run boost until its properly tuned.

How's your frankenstein starter working out? Same problems as before starting in the heat or better now?

As far as the Greddy he said he'd be running it very low. AFAIK the greddy is fine at low (ie. spec) boost. It was just when people would up the boost past... 6? psi that there were problems.

The upgraded ones, all three, allow more pressure. The BNR one also adds water cooling to extend the life of the turbo but I don't think that helps much for the life of the engine.

Oh and I'm definitely still leaking coolant. Looks to only be occurring when my car cools down after having it hot enough to open up the thermostat because my reservoir wasn't down at all this morning even though there's a small puddle of coolant under my car. I've ordered some new hoses from Ray but I'll keep driving even with a little leak. Not like filling up my coolant every day or two is gonna kill me. Definitely should have taken that hose completely off when I cut it rather than doing it inside the bay.

I wonder if there is a problem with the sensor connector as it cools. Different material for the sensor rather than the housing cooling at different rates?

I need to replace the tailgate latch handle on my S-10. I'm trying to find a schematic of the parts to figure out how it goes together. I've Google Searched it to death and can't find anything. It's not in the Chilton's. Anybody have an idea?

With my coolant issue? I'm sure that's possible but my cut on the hose wasn't straight so I think I just the hose just isn't fit snug over the fitting on the water adapter. Even though I have it clamped down tight I'm pretty sure just enough liquid - and we're talking a drop at a time here - is squeezing out underneath. I'll be able to tell for sure if the changes in temps make a big deal since it'll warm up significantly over the next few days and I won't be leaving it in one place long enough for it to drain the upper hose completely.

I would just take it apart and put it back together but I'll have the new hoses soon enough and even though my car is pretty clean rubber hoses aren't the best at aging. Mine may have just been worn down enough that they didn't take well to my imprecise slicing and dicing.

I found some tailgate latches:

And this has tailgate handles but maybe not your year:

NO. It looks easy enough, but I really want to see how the bars that go to the latches attach before I take them off and drop them into the tailgate door.

Thanks. but that's not what I need. The latches are easy to find for sale. I need the see the drawing so I know how they go in. Apparently these wear out somewhat frequently.
