Nice! There's now a certified Cobb tuner in Hilliard:

http://www.meadengineering.com/

I'm so calling them. As soon as I figure out how to make my car stop leaking coolant and... well... start.

I'm assuming the leak is from the water temp sensor you spliced in to the line?

Make sure they have experiences with tuning rotary engines.

I took it apart again and tightened it up. I think I cut the piping a little slanted so the underneath wasn't quite tight up against the lip of the sensor. So I tightened it up a bit. It was just a slow drip but I'm not about to leave it like that.

Technically it wasn't leaking anymore when I left it on Sunday but I was pooped and didn't want to put my car back together again. I'm doing that tonight and starting it. We'll see if it can hold it's water then.

Already queried 'em about it Jon. We'll see what they say but Cobb trains them to work on all 5 of the cars supported by Cobb so they should have some experience. But they don't specialize in Mazdas so I doubt they work with rotaries.

Still would be nice to get it tuned while on a dyno. Probably cheaper too.

It'll take a few (at least 3) tunes to get it tweaked in and finalized.
So it'll take time waiting for each tune to be submitted and sent back.

Gotta get back in there this month so I can figure out what I'm doing.

Does the defenses case hold water?

Hopefully you fixed the leak.

No... I meant 1st as in the base map.
I sent it out almost 2 weeks ago and from what I hear from others, he has been taking about 2 weeks to deliver back.
Which is no big deal to me.
If it takes him 2 months to get ALL my maps tweaked, that is perfectly fine and reasonable.
I know he has a lot on his plate.

Hell... I had a friend ask me to transfer his wedding video from a High8 tape to DVD.
I said, "Sure... no problem".
He then delivers my a bag with 12 MORE High8 tapes from his sister to transfer onto DVD!
So I know what its like to get slammed all at once with people nagging to get it back ASAP.
I already told him that the other tapes aren't going to be done completely for a couple months.

Ok. Like I've said before I'd be fine with getting a MM tune if I go FI but I just don't see the value of his tune over a Cobb tune.

Now if I could find a local tuner who can give me a base map off a Dyno that I could go back to whenever I change up my car (midpipe this year, FI in the next year or two) who I could go back to on a semi-regular basis. I'd probably jump on that over tweaking the Cobb tune.

But obviously it's gotta be someone capable of tuning our cars. I know that Jason at RX7store can tune rotaries but he isn't a licensed tuner so I'm not sure if he could create a Cobb map. I've been talking to local tuners who aren't rotary tuners but they all have the same problem.

But I'm not in a huge rush for it. And in the end I might just go back to tuning with MM like everyone else.

Anyone interested in some RX8 B-Pillar appliques? Likely cheap.

http://cleveland.craigslist.org/pts/1037730634.html

I was just out poking around and that's the only RX-8 part available. Dude's been trying to sell it for at least a month along with a bunch of other random autoparts. Here's the latest post (and the one you should respond to if you're interested):

http://cleveland.craigslist.org/pts/1055290728.html

I think it's these ones but hard to tell w/o looking up the part#:

Ryan check that dyno shop that opened in Painsville. I think he said he did Cobb tuning.

No. He didn't. He just said he can tune cars and if I brought it in he'd do it. He never responded to my question of whether he's tuned rotary engines before or if he's ever used Cobb.

I'd probably go to a guy that works on miata's and other race cars in Medina before I went all the way to Painsville for someone who just provides me dyno charts which I could use to tune my car.

Just busting your chops John

In all honesty though, if someone is buying beer I am not going to be picky about what kind it is. You really can't complain about free beer

I always found you could legitimately complain if said free beer is Natural Light. *shudder*

Natty Light and some Beast (Milwaukees Best). No wonder I drink so much liquor now, I'm trying to erase the memories
