Lol thanks so I need that + the oil filter and anything else from there? Would plugs from there be as expensive as anywhere else? Would a K&N panel filter be worth it? I used to always do them in all my cars and couldn't tell yah if they made a difference because I didn't keep track of my mileage at fill ups.

Doc, I was raised in the south and well on top of that I did 7yrs in the service so it is habit.

Unfortunately they don't sell the plugs at the store... only online.
But the price SR has is the same as what you'll get from our vendor here that we get parts from (PM Charles R Hill).
It'll run you $80 for all 4 plugs

Sure. I've never changed mine, but read that people who have seen how disgusting it is.
Maybe I'll change mine this year.

And BTW.. I wasn't joking about getting the 5w30

Glad you guys got the radio out ok. It really isn't fun getting that bolt out of there the first time and those HVAC connections suck *****. Please tell me you left out the bolt though when you put it back together.

It really wasn't that bad once I actually saw the bolt through the gap in the steering column.

Oh I talked to fluid motorsports and they said swapping out the blue tube for a flat black tube so it looks stock is not a problem. They are quick. I wasn't expecting a PM back until Monday.

ok. Only two things to figure out for the gauges. Im trying to figure out where people without the nav package wire the power for the gauges and trying to figure out where I get through my firewall. Anyone know the answers for that?

Oh and the gauges daisy chain power supply so I should have enuff wiring by combining the three to get to a non central dash ps.

For power I would expect you to go to the fuse box on the drivers footwell. There is an accessory fuse in there that you can tap, just make sure you put a fuse on your wire. You could also go down to the cig lighter and tap in there without any issues. As for coming through the firewall...I would check the amp install instructions. I want to say that there is something on the passenger side for a pass through behind the glovebox; however, when Steve did his amp install he went through drivers side somewhere.

I think I'm just going to put on the sender adapters today tho we'll see how I am on time. I did grab a 12v power sensor thing from Sears so I can make sure I'm tapping into a connection that powers up when the car powers up. But timing today means almost certainly waiting until tomorrow night to brave any wiring beyond the senders.

Oh and Jon I didn't see you had the black stuff otherwise I woulda laughed at you. Tell me that getting to do some dremel work wasn't worth it tho.

I found out that Prosport has a bunch of vids online for installs:

ARGH! I did something I told myself I wouldn't do this winter. Ordered more parts for my car. Although...with a little luck Jon...you and I might be able to make some money from this puppy.

Not expensive...but hopefully I can work something out with Jon from the c6c, since it might work on the 6's as well, and Jon here and we can see how hard they are to build. I wouldn't mind doing some work to start making them again for people.

That looks like fun. Get to work!

So anyway it looks like the prosport water temp adapter is 38mm. The RB one is 34mm and the piping used in Steve's is 35mm. I sent a message to Fluid asking if he sent the wrong one or if there's a different pipe I can use the 38mm on.

Also found a DIY on the water temp electrical install:

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...lotek+prosport

Since I can daisy chain it that should suffice for my power needs tho I'd rather tap the ciggy lighter then cut it and leave it as nonfunctional. Then it'll just be a matter of getting the senders wired. Think I'm gonna take another trip to the auto store and get some 16 gauge wire. Already grabbed a crimper/cutter from Sears (along with a magnetic pickup tool!).

While you are at the autoparts store you should pick up some plastic wire splices like they gave you for the puddle lights. Those things work really well and that way you wouldn't loose the use of the cig adapter for power if you need it. It is strange that the guages use such a variety of size piping for the same purpose. Then again...maybe Steve's previous owner had problems with getting a 34mm hose on and just crimped the 35mm to work.

I think that RB only makes their adapter in 34 and 36 while the hose itself is 35. So most people go with the 34 and use hose clamps to secure it rather than going 36 and having to convince the hard plastic hose to fit where it doesn't want to fit.

But I could be 100% wrong since I'm making most of this up as I go along.

Boy, you go out of town for a few days and people go nuts on their cars.

Ryan - did you struggle with the radio at all? I've never taken mine out and I need to fix my heater connection sometime. Have any pics of the gauges installed? I know my gauges tapped into the cig lighter.

Where did you get you catch can? I still have yet to order one because I really don't know how large they need to be, etc.

I got mine from Fluid Motorsports. Round $80 and your choice of CF, Red, Silver, or Blue. You can definitely find cheaper ones though. He's got a thread going in his forum.

I didn't have much of a problem getting the radio out once Jon found the crazy useless lock nut. I just kept working up from the bottom and eventually forced it off. However I haven't disconnected the radio so you'll have to hit John up for more info about the difficulties in doing that. Mine's still hanging off of the consoler up against my shifter.

Gauges aren't installed yet but tomorrow night I'll have the pod installed and if I've given up wiring the gauges I'll have them in the pod. Plenty of pics in the Interior/electrongs forum of people with Lotek and Prosport Premium gauges.

Interesting.
Doesn't seem hard to build, just a few axial components, an IC, and some traces on a breadboard.
To make things easier, you could always purchase one just to see the component's value and then order those same parts.
My only issue is that you are kinda "stealing" his idea and work (though he could have gotten this idea from another source too).

To open fully... yes.
But this gives you an option to push the button again to stop it at any point.
I truthfully don't see why anyone would care to do this, but to each their own.

Yeah... I guess that is what I was thinking. To each their own indeed.

A VW window mod would be nice... close or open the windows and sun roof by holding the key in the door unlock position... in my opinion, that is useful.

Jon...I did order one so I could see it. Rodger burned his car up pretty good and isn't getting another 8 so he said he wouldn't be doing them anymore. And if we did decide to build our own I would send some money to him since it was his original design. I bought one because I am always opening and closing my sunroof and I am hoping that I can find a way to wire it into the remote so that I can autoclose the sunroof too.

Steve...I'll be happy to get together with you and help you pull the radio. I will tell you that your guages have to come out to get to the radio. Since I have no experience with wiring those puppies up I will leave that part to you.
