I havent had time to do anything with this since I have been working stupid hours where I work thursday through monday from about 10 am to about 10 pm and have tuesday and wednesday off (damn restaurant industry). I have no weekends in september that I can take off since I am going out of town one of them and the other two are shot for work. Early October is looking to be the best for me possibly the 10th. I will call my contact at bommarito next week and look into doing something then.

Sounds good, RJ. I'm ready for another excuse to get together with other rotarians and go driving.

I've also seen a titanium grey 8 around... or it might be two different ones, not sure. One a couple of times in the evening (around 6:45) heading north on 270, and the other heading west on Manchester past 141 this past Monday. Was it anybody here?

Happy motoring.

I will get right on that. That gives me at barley 2 full year to get something together. I might be able to set something up on short notice.

As far as I know there was no meeting two weeks ago. Nobody posted that there was going to definitly be one or that there even was one. I will work on getting something set up as long as people are going to show up. Does the 10th of October sound good on a firm date. I checked out the ferries going over the river to Alton and one of them you have to drive on like half a mile of gravel to get to the ferry. It does not bother me as long as we drive slow, but some people might not want to do that so I am open to ideas as far as the drive goes. I think most of the stuff in Herman as far as Octoberfest goes will be over by that weekend as it is usually the first weekend in October. Let me know what you all want to do as far as a drive goes.

Someone needs to set a time & place & don't stray... I think it should be somewhere downtown so that people on the West Side of town (64 & 270 area - where I work) and the east side of town (O'Fallon IL area - where I live) can meet in the middle somewhere.

Well, 10 October is a saturday. If we want a dealer thing that may work out better than the last one, it will have to be a saturday. If nobody cares than 11 October is a Sunday. spdspappy, I dont think that we will ever be able to please everybody with a place to meet at. If it were downtown somewhere a bunch of us live in the Lake St. Louis/OFallon/St. Peters area so that is pretty far for us. I think DMenac7 is going to come down from the Springfield, Il area if he can for this one. If we go to a dealer it will be Bommarito Ellisville on Manchester close to Clarkson. So right now everybody following this thread by tuesday the 7th we need to choose either 10 Oct Saturday for a dealer trip and then a drive or 11 Oct Sunday with no dealer and just a meet and drive. The most votes by then wins. I will set up a poll at the top.

OK cant figure out how to do a poll after the thread is already open even though I am the opener. So just vote. 10 or 11, sat or sun, what ever else you can think of to voice your vote.

Could be nice. The cobble stones are awful to drive on though.

Any day works for me, so Saturday is fine.

I know that one day isn't good for everyone. I used to run a 40+ member group in San Antonio & we set up monthly meetings that would alternate btw Sat & Sun from month to month to assist in this problem (we also had outings throughout the month). I was just recommending that youneed to pick a date & go with it.

My point about downtown is this... How far would it be for you to drive to O'Fallon IL,? From a search, it's ~48 miles for someone in the O'Fallon MO area to drive to the O'Fallon IL area. It's ~42 miles for me to drive to Ellisville. It just seems to me like downtown is more centrally located. Also, I think meet & greets @ a restaurant always worked out the best. These give people a chance to sit down, hang out, then head out to the parking lot afterwards to look @ everyone's cars. Also, what about meeting @ a drag strip (i.e. Gateway)? I guess I'm just not quite sure about what you can do @ a dealership for fun.

I agree about a central location, but from downtown there are not alot of places to go drive to, at least not that I know about. The dealership thing last time was supposed to be with some techs that would look at some of the problems that we have with our cars and possibly fix them or order the fixes. They were also going to flash some cars, but that didnt work out. I also believe, please correct me if I am wrong, they were supposed to have lunch for us as well. They put a car up on the rack, an auto when most of us drive stick, and we could look around under it. The tech at the dealership we went to did not know why the car only had one oil cooler and I pointed out that it was because it was an auto. HE WAS A TECH AND DID NOT KNOW THIS.

So anyways. It is going to be Sat the 9th and the rest we will work out. As far as a drive goes we can all decide at the time and take the drive from there as far as I am concerned since going some place does not require reservations. Like I said before, the wineries were fun, but I'd like to go somewhere different (RX8Club.com does not endorse drinking and driving(had to put that in there)). I have come up with several things such as the ferries from STL to the IL side, going to Herman(a long drive), or anywhere else people want to go. Lets get some more ideas flowing. If somebody wants to have a BBQ at their house we could do that, who cares. Last meet I met some cool people (DaveSir and GF) and some others I dont remember names of) and we had a great time. I dont think it matters where we end up just so we have a good time and are safe.

Lets get some ideas.
