FYI on all weather tires, I would forget the TPMS - for $1000, I decided to check my own tires and deal with the little light. I got a set of Blizzaks and 17" wheels - ASA 's, I think they were JH3, the whole thing was just over $800 from Tire Rack. This was three years ago, but it can't be a whole lot more now. Frankly, the JH3's were pretty nice looking, too, I got a bunch of compliments on them. I highly recommed that set-up.
My FX35 did earn some points with me going to work today, even if its isn't as cool as my old RX8.
I also recommend not even driving in this weather if you don't have all weathers. Good luck!

Was out Thursday night after 6pm. Have Blizzak WS 50s on ASA 17s. Didnt not have any problems to speak off. Kept it a gear higher then normal to reduce torque. Flying slush was my biggest issue.

I checked out my garage for the shock swap. The heater isn't quite working yet - somehow, there's no gas getting to it. It sparks though. I'll work on it, we'll know before Fisher and the Heavenly Saviour have their joint birthdays.

I'm worried about driving with my stock tires this winter. I think I damn near finished off the remaining useful tread at autocross this summer. I have to drive too, can't just make the GF drive me in her blazer.

I managed to get around rather nicely in the Kumhos since the weather... once I could get out of my driveway.
Regarding the DSC... if you get stuck in snow you'll definitely have to give the button a push to get the wheels turning without getting throttle interruption. But once you get rolling, pop that baby back on.
For anyone who wants a couple of OEM dunlops I have some (two) I'd be willing to give away for nothing. They have maybe 8,000 or so miles on them but have enough tread to drive on for a while before they're "cashed". I replaced all four tires when one of mine got a nail in it and I kept the best two of the bunch "just in case". But now I have a garage full of wheels and tires that need to start getting cleaned out and since I've gone with a different tire size for everyday driving, these won't work out too well with my setup. Just give me a yell if you want them.

Alright looks like I'm just buyin the shocks/springs on my own, so I may order them soon and have them before Christmas. We'll see how quickly I pull the trigger.
Luckily I missed the worst of the icy roads. I'm on Potenzas so I hope I don't get stuck in bad weather... I'm picking up sand bags today.

Ha hopefully no socks. They said they had something else in mind. Its cool cause the ms shocks/springs are about $700, which is almost the same amount I got from my rear ending incident.
Also picked up some sand bags today so I can put all this massive torque to the ground instead of spinning all day

I am coaching a swim meet all this weekend and have a family Christmas party next Saturday and a couple other things I have to get to on Sunday. Although, I should be available that Saturday following Christmas.

Well, after losing my power at 2am Friday morning, I finally got it back about 8pm last night. If anyone wants some free firewood, they are welcome to come over to my place and hall off all the giant tree limbs down in my yard. This weather sucks!!!

Fishdn and Waterlogged let me know on the agreed "garage day".
Good for you Baseballgenius..........I however still do not have any power. My heat is gas but the thermostat and fan are electric. So no electric or heat and it is cooooooold in my house. I've considered sleeping in the 8.

Guys, this weekend won't work for me and my spacious, not yet heated garage. If it ends up being next weekend, however, that could work. I would really like to see 3 or 4 RX8s parked in the driveway. I'll keep my eyes open here.

Ok ..... so far for the garage day to work on Fisherdn's 8 the list includes: Fisherdn, Waterlogged, Myfuncar (garage owner), Baseballgenuius80, and myself. We are still missing a couple of regulars to join us. Is this going to happen before Christmas or after? Let's just get a concrete date. I think it's up to Waterlogged (since he is spearheading the work) and Myfuncar (garage owner) more than anyone else.

Well UPS says they'll come in tomorrow. It is highly possible that my brother and I will install them this saturday as its supposed to warm up a bit (at least mid 40s). Let's be honest I don't have the patience to wait several weeks. I don't have the knowledge to complete the job on my own, but my brother installed my suspension kit on my last car. I hate to skip out, but I'd also hate to have these sitting in my house for weeks! Either way we definitely need to get together. At least a few beers, any suggestions?

Alright guys my brother and I go the install finished today. It was a lengthy process, but I am very happy with the result. Driveability is great. It makes me realize there was definitely wear on my oem shocks. Of course its a bit stiffer, but no more floating up and down after bumps! (though my oems weren't THAT bad) I'd say it lowered about the advertised .8". The front wheel gap is now much better, and same with back. Since the roads are a bit questionable I haven't really pushed any corners yet, but I look forward to it. I did accelerate all the way through a highway entrance ramp that looped in a circle. Anyway I really appreciate everyone offering their help anyway.
Bill did you get an alignment after? We did move the control arms, but my brother does swear he put them back in the same place.
