Another Twincities RX-8 owner checking in... Just bought it two days ago and still giddy with the whole thing... Anyone know of non dealership mechanics with good reputations that have RX8 experience around here or are we pretty much stuck with paying the dealers to fix our cars?
barring being able to do it ourselves with I'm not comfortable with trying.

Ask one of the local guys to give you a hand if something comes up... I'm sure all it would cost you is some food/beverages lol

Thanks for the links, those prices are significantly cheaper than what the body shop is charging.

The part I'm not sure about is the front part- the shop called it a front retainer and a front spoiler. Any idea what replacement options are for those?

Also, I have to give a plug for Star Spec tires, they've been incredible. If anyone is in the market for good traction, I highly recommend them.

You could get the appearance package equivelant

http://finishlineperformance.com/sto...cat=267&page=1

Not sure where I would go about ordering a replacement piece if you wanted to get the same thing - maybe the shop could order it for you It's easy to install, the most difficult part is removing the bumper and even that is pretty easy.

Some other options would either be a new bumper entirely, or something like an r-magic lip (I have no clue where to order that either).

I'd feel weird asking a stranger to help me work on my vehic... so I'm guessing were pretty much stuck with the dealership then? I eventually wanta pull the keg and have it rebuilt and ported... I would have to send it off for porting and rebuild... how much to have the dealer remove it and reinstall it?

If you're not comfortable asking local guys to give you a hand thats fine... just saying that they will know more then the dealers will and they will be cheaper, plus after the first time they won't be strangers anymore. If only I had some local guys over here for when **** goes wrong lol

Wallets for the win!!!! thanx man that was exactly what I was asking for... A local shop that works on rotaries!!! Not to mention the fact that they are very experienced with tuning and FI as well... they moved to Minnesota and ended up only about 25 minutes from my house... these guys are going to end up with allot of my money!! My last rotary (an 82 RX-7 GSL) I had a bitch of a time finding anyone who could do maintenance much less any tuning.

Copy & Pasted from Rx7club; local rotary meet in MN
http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=958305

Just thought I'd make this a thread. Theres a pretty large group of people that get together at Sonic in Bloomington (Right off american blvd) on wednesday nights every week. All makes and models are welcome. Meet starts at 6-7pm and ends around 9-10.

A lot of people have been asking if theres any rx7 clubs up here and this is about as close as it gets. Theres 4 rx7 owners that are there pretty much every week, of which my car is the only one that regularly is running to be at Sonic =P, and there have been a couple new rx7 folks showing up recently.

Hope to see some new people there!

Finally got my car fixed. I had a P0302 CEL code and it turned out that 3 of my 4 coils were bad. Replaced them and now she runs like a champ!

Hey, just wanted to give everyone a heads up that I'm converting my car back to stock to trade it in so all of my parts will be for sale shortly. Some things I have include BHR iginition, racing beat race pipe/dual res midpipe/dual exhaust, cobb AP, axial flow ss, tokico d-specs, tien s-techs, 17x9 enkei rpf1's with 255/40/17 hankooko rs3's, corbeau forza seats with brackets, jdm clear corners for side turn signal, progress tech swaybars, and I'm sure there's some more laying around. Some parts don't have many miles at all, others have about 5,000 max since I store my car in the winter. I'll post up pictures and prices later this week, but if there's anything that you're interested let me know.
