ok, so that is 9 so far (counting red panda and my dad) i will start looking into a park for a bbq then, i'll check the weather after my firefighter test this afternoon, and get back to a location, i'll have it by tonight (Tuesday).
Does 1:30 PM sound good? Who has a good camera? |
One park I know of off-hand is the Veteran's Memorial Park here in Richfield.
Pretty central location, lots of room. http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=4...17552&t=h&z=16 http://www.cityofrichfield.org/Recre...rk_shelter.htm I'll be bringing a decent camera for sure, but it can't hurt to have more than one. [Edit: The shelter is right at the end of the ribbon-loop lot on the west/left side of the park http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/55423 -- Isolated T-Storms Friday, Partly Cloudy Saturday and 79°] |
I have a pretty good HD video camera! I'll bring it, I don't know about still pictures though...

Yeah, there won't be a chance of renting out any pavilions because they are all more than likely rented out for the weekend, if I had though ahead and got a set in stone head count earlier, I would have rented one out.
While we are at the event on Saturday, we can set a date for next summer. As for a meeting location, I am still trying to figure out where we could meet. Unfortunately, it's going to be hard to find a pavilion on such short notice. WE may have to Fudrucker it after all, which I don't mind. If everyone agrees, I'll call the one off of 394 as a courtesy to let them know we have a group. Does 1:30 Saturday sound like a good time to you? It would also be cool to find an emptyish parking lot for pictures, and maybe find a location (top level MOA west parking ramp) for some night shots, after sunset. Let me know what you think, and if anyone has an alternative idea for food or grill-out, please share. |

I think it is rented out that day.. for farmer's market and stuff.. so it might be busy.. but i have never been there, so I wouldn't know. is there a public area?
I'll go check if it's booked or not for sure for that afternoon. I think the farmer's market is only there in the early morning and they're out by 1:30, but again I'll find out for sure. [Edit: I'll update tonight, but if this falls through I'm fine with the backup plan] [Edit 2:] There's a schedule on the site that I missed somehow. it's booked until 5:30pm and available for the 6-10 timeslot (which could work out well since there's still a good amount of light at 6...) If we wanted to start one place and move there we could do that too, or forget it all together. It's up to you guys, but I think that's a pretty nice location] |

Fuddrucker's it will have to be, most parks with nice parking and away from neighborhoods are all rented out and therefore no bbq available.. we can still go to the park in richfield after or a place we can settle out. 1:30 is good for me. ;) |
Fudrucker's is such a great option b, the reason why i never left it out of the mix.
We can sit down and plan for next summer a date and a place, that way we can get a pavilion rented. Planning a year in advance will also help figure out food/drink who brings what, which will be decided a few weeks out next time. I'll let my dad know it will be at Fudruckers, he hasn't been there in a while (10 years, yes 10) so I think i would be good for him. We can also map out a scenic ride to the empty lot across for IKEA yes? |
Sounds like a plan to me.
|
For those who do not know where that Fuddrucker's is, address and number to them below.

so....my tail light has been full of...CONDENSATION!!! But I think it'll be dried out by tomorrow afternoon, I have it sitting in a plastic bag, with about a million of those packets of silica gel. I am going to hit it with the hairdryer on low, and then some silicone...
I hope it is all done by tomorrow. |
So 1:30 PM tomorrow.

I hope it is all done by tomorrow. Not more than 2 weeks later- more water and more condensation! So I pulled it off again, took the next step of drilling a few small-ish holes in the bottom at strategic places. Voila- that totally did the trick, I haven't had a hint of it in there since. If you aren't against drilling, I would consider putting a couple holes in the bottom. Otherwise, give this a shot and consider it for a second step if it comes back.. |
Time to change my brakes. I've been debating about getting a track oriented pad for daily driving, but I ended up backing off that idea- I really don't want to deal with the noise on my daily commute. So I'll end up with a second set of pads (and possibly rotors) for tracking- more of a hassle but a better solution.
I was looking at the RacingBrake pads (http://www.racingbrake.com/v/main/rb_pads.asp) but after seeing the pictures of those guys ET800 (their "track pad") after one day on the track, I decided to steer clear of these for a while- I'll let other people test them out for a bit before I jump in. I ended up getting Hawk HPS, from frozen rotors (local company, with good prices) http://www.frozenrotors.com - $150 for both axles + s&h + tax I really wanted to get the frozen rotors rotors (blanks, not slotted)- but the price was just a little high for my budget right now, even though they are supposed to last a long time. Per a recommendation by TeamRX8 in another thread on the forums, I ordered the Centric Premium Rotors (blanks) from Rock Auto- http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,ca...,parttype,1896 - $225 shipped for front + rear rotor set. I've had slotted rotors before, but I think blanks are better for daily driving and probably auto cross. I should have everything by the end of this next week! Now comes the hard part- waiting :-) |
8Club MN Jun 2010
Our summer meetup just wrapped up a bit earlier today, and I must say it was a blast.
I know there were a few who couldn't make it this time, but we ended up with a final head count of 7 RX-8s, 1 350z, and 1 MazdaSpeed6. My raw photos of the event can be found [HERE] (Do Note the .zip file also available for those who would like to have the set) It was great meeting all those who attended, and getting some excellent ideas on tasteful modding in the future. I'll be running some of these through Photoshop over the next couple days and will post the highlights soon :) http://www.eve-pyxis.net/8ClubMN-Jun...1webresize.png |
