Damn that's another $200 on top of the registration fee along with gas and food that about $500 for the day. I will have to speak to the wife. Do you think I can get a helmet for cheaper if its used? Maybe on e-bay. Are these helmets the same as bike helmets? Sorry I'm new to this whole race track seen. I am to use to city life. So all you guys and gals will be meeting at a specific location?

you could always check and see if allen would let you borrow his for the day. Personally if I was going to invest in something to keep my head safe, I wouldnt want to depend on the previous owners usage or lack thereof.

As far as a specific location we really don't have one, I would prefer to be on the asphalt this time to make it easier to work on the cars and such, but I really dont care. There is a nice new area that they just put together right around the paddock, so I kinda figure that is where we will end up.

I would never by a helmet that someone else used. Just dropping a helmet to the floor can damage it with out you even knowing it. On top of that, if you buy it from someone you don't know, you have to worry about lice or a scalp desease.
I have an old one that can be borrowed. It is DOT & Snell 80 rated size xxl.

Blue, is this circled area what you were talking about?

i have no idea where that area that you circled is in relation to the track. The area that I'm talking about is right by pit out.

EDIT

I got mine at a motorcycle shop. Its has all the current snell/dot approvals for car and cycles, is an open face design and ran me about 100$

Does it matter if its an open face helmet. I think that may be more comfortable.

No and i was told an open face helmet is preferable in a car with airbags. I know RedDevil and Al both also have open face helmets and if i had to guess so do RSD and blue....

Personally i think close face helmets are more comfortable but open face deff fees like it has better visability. "Feels" whether it is true or not....dunno. I dont have a closed face helet to take to the track and compare.

Thank you for the offer. I may need to take you up on that. First I need to measure my grape to see what size I am.

I think where we should meet is where Blue was set up last time I was there. If you follow the main road leading into the main paddock area, you'll work your way south leading to turn 1. There is a small covered area with nitrogen tanks but still more than enough room to fit quite a few chairs underneath cover. Good location, and not nearly as crowded as other places, imo.

No, you would enter at the top of PDF at Gate 6, which is where the registration building is. If you follow the road from there it will take you back to the Main Paddock on the pdf. You are getting close to Gate 3 at turn 1. But gate 3 puts you on the other side of the track.

dont worry, its a lot of fun, and its not "racing". Racing is timed, and this isnt

If I bring a friend do they need to pay anything? I think I saw somewhere were it said it will cost $5 for a passenger. Is this correct. Also, my car is all stock are there any recomendationes on how much or how hard I should push my car? At this point I am 70% going. I still need to sort out the whole helmet deal then register.

well, I wouldnt push YOURSELF any further than you are comfortable. The car is amazing capable, but the main problem will be driver input. Once you get your inputs down, and are smooth the car will really amaze you. But I will tell you that I would HIGHLY reccomend getting an instructor to ride with you.

Yes, $5 gets any spectators/riders in the gate.

Personally, if you are going, bleed your brakes with some good DOT4 fluid, I use Motul 600, also grab another set of brake pads. Its amazing how much and how fast you can chew thru a set of brake pads.

It looks like I got some friend of my wife to loan me some helmets. I will find out for sure on Monday. If I get them I am most deffenitly going Whats this deal abot bleeding my brakes? I may have to look at the DIY threads, I am no mechanic. Do I get the pads from MAZDA dealer or from any other auto parts store? I'll bring them but I won't be able to install them in case I need to. Some one will have to show me how. I only chnged pads once and that was on my 94 Z28. It all comes down to the helmets.
