I just need to vent here...
WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG with probably 70% of the drivers in Michigan? Have Ohio Drivers ruined us?
Michigan drivers see this sign:
"Keep Right, except to pass" and think "MAINTAIN THE LEFT LANE AT ALL COSTS!"
Michigan drivers see this sign:
"Freeway ends, 1/4 mile" and think "Be prepared - your lane will go from being the LEFT lane to perhaps the CENTER LANE! Make sure to move over to the left lane as soon as you can."
Michigan Drivers see this sign:
"Speed limit 70" and think "Drive 70mph in the left lane - OR...ensure whatever speed you're driving equals the guy in the right lane, and drive beside him NASCAR style as long as you can. And when somebody drives in the right lane, passes in the left on State Route 53, blast him with horns and lights and tailgate him because how DARE he move over in front of my left-lane-camping-self!"
Michigan Drivers see this sign:
"Exit, 3/4 Mile" and think "Stay in the left lane!"
"Exit 1/4 mile" and think "STAY in the left lane!"
"Exit 200 feet" and think "Okay, I'll barge over into the right lane for the exit, but I'll be prepared to find the nearest left lane when I exit the highway!"

This seems to be mainly a SE MI problem. I don't have as much of that problem in SW or Central MI. I have had it as far west as Lansing. The last time I was in the Ann Arbor area, I found the right lane faster than the left or center.
I see that frequently. While the left-lane ****** clog up the passing lane, the right lane is empty. I just don't get it. Not only is it illegal on two lane roads (two each direction), it's inefficient. Course, cops won't ticket folk...frustrating. Years driving in Germany shaped my thoughts on the matter, I suppose.

newb
Hi from Traverse City! Picked up a clean bone-stock base '04 in winning blue, 117K mi for a summer commuter and occasional track day car. Mazda says new motor/cat in '06; was 1-owner in Ohio, with clean Autofax. Had dealer check compression and cat codes; OK! Runs great; got 21 mpg on 1000 mile round-trip to the Indy 500, and AC worked fairly well in 95 deg heat. First impressions after spirited driving on a quiet roadway-- great balance, mild understeer on corner entry (Kumho Ecstas not very grippy), love the oversteer with the TC off. We've got great roads here (especially M-22), so come visit!

Hi Michiganders, we have a little "a day before Canada day meet", at Quick Sushi Boat in Windsor on Sunday, June 30th.
We have a bunch of new RX'ers on this side of the river. Rotaries and GT-R's are taking over Windsor. It's a great sight.

5-6pm. It would be great to see you there. We have a quite a few new RX-8'ers in Windsor. One of them comes out on the regular, the others are still tentative newbs. We have 2 other guys with TII builds; one of them was at our first ever Windsor meet, then was going LS, lost interest, bought a past (snowmobile accident fatality) local club members '87 and swapping all his TII parts over. The other has a '88 JDM savanna.
There is much more interest in RX's in this area, it has been putting a smile on my face. 6 folks that I know have gone dorito. 6 others have gone GT-R. I want to arrange a photoshoot later this year.
